Hey, whats up? My mum's giving a party this Saturday for celebrating her forty something birthday. So, she asked me to put in some music for people to dance and everything. And i thought i could ask you guys: What kind of music is good for getting people to dance? I mean, What do you like to hear when you are in a party?
Rap/Hip-Hop/R&B. But if your party isn't really that type (Not sure how to explain), then like old classics?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yu_moia-oVI I typed that out off the top of my head. Should I be worried?
Irish music. Flogging Molly is good. And then some Greek music with a mandolin. And then some Gypsy Kings
You wanna be my best fwend? If you're seriously trying to pick music for your mum's party, you have to take into account her generation and the ages of the people who're going to be showing up. I mean, I could give you a couple of the mixes that my friends who DJ have spun, but they work at /clubs/ and so that's the kind of crowd that they're going to appeal to. First off, tell me what kind of music your mum likes. Secondly, tell me what kind of dancing she wants - fast paced, country line dancing, waltzes... Then tell me who's coming to the party - or at least the general age group and any kind of insight you may have into their tastes. If you can do that, then I can help you out. As long as your mother doesn't like Jazz, because my musical tastes there are virtually non-existent.
i soppuse it all denpends on the age of the morjority of the people there to what type of music they would like
Thanks surreptitious. My mom likes almost any kind of music except for some really hard rock but what she likes the most is trova, Cuban music, and rock/pop or whatever from the 80s and 90s; like that one of Hombres G, Paul McCartney, bee gees etc.. Mom was born around 1967 so she was a teen-adult during the 80s. She invited mainly her friends and family, so i guess the people going to the party will be no more than 5 to 8 years younger or older than her.
-Kool and the gang -Earth wind and Fire Both are "old" (70's-80's ), but great for parties since everyone knows them. Even the generations who didnt grew up with them. ------- Gypsy Kings Buena vista social club For a more Cuban / mediterranean laid-back kind of music. ( Again, everyone knows this music. And even when you think you dont, when you hear the songs, youll know ).
No problem, I hope its to your liking and that of the guests ( in the end, music is still personal ) Have a good one today.
