Okay, so I have a Nokia N95. It's a fantastic phone and I love it.. but I really like the sleek design of the iPhone and there are HEAPS of apps that I've seen that really appeal to me and I can see myself using in the future. HOWEVER, I'm on a plan with the N95 - meaning Nokia gave it to me for free but I pay a certain amount each month and get credit, etc. This means if I bought an iPhone, I'd be buying it outright.. and I don't know if they've come down in price at all (or ever will) - but $700 is a massive price tag. It also only has a 2 M.P camera.. which, while I don't use it that much, I still prefer the great quality of the 5 M.P shots that come from my N95. So, pretty much if you have an iPhone or an iTouch, or know a bit about them: Can you use the iPhone apps on the iTouch? Will the iPhone price EVER come down? Is the iPhone worth the money? Would it be more worthwhile upgrading my 5th gen iPod to an iTouch and keeping my N95, or buying an iPhone to really have the best of both worlds? Cheers
You can use all Iphone apps on the ipod touch which don't require functions like camera, phone... You won't have internet everywhere on the ipod touch (only wifi) I have an Ipod touch 1G so aks what you want to know... The Iphone price will never come down in my opinion... it only fell once right after it got out, and then the old model falls when the new one comes out (but then you want the new one) The iphone 3Gs is just coming out so waiting for a pricedrop makes no sense. If you use you ipod 5th gen upgrade defently makes sense.... And in my opionion the iphone is just worth all of it just because of the touch screen
No, some of the iphone apps need gps/compass (in the 3.0 firmware) or camera function that the itouch doesnt have, but most apps work on both. Maybe, the original iphone came out at $600 and then went down to $400 (and then to $200 with the 3g but that required a contract) I would say so, i use mine every day. depends on if you have the money to spare or not, remember that the iphone has a $30/month charge for data but i think its useful if you dont want to be messing around with two devices and stuff
I don't know if your phone comes with inet... But the iphone safari browser + the email app is great and I hate it that I can't access it from everywhere on my touch
"Would it be more worthwhile upgrading my 5th gen iPod to an iTouch and keeping my N95, or buying an iPhone to really have the best of both worlds?" ^ I'm not a fan of the phone aspect of the iPhone, so iTouch is amazing to me. it's so slim, wifi, great apps, no contract with AT&T. I say you go with keeping your Nokia and getting the iTouch.
I've used a friend's iPhone to text and to make a call, and I found it REALLY awkward :/ So I think I may go for the iTouch, seeing as I can some of the relatively useful apps. So when the iTouch has access to wi-fi, is the a safari browser inside?
http://fortuneapple20.files.wordpress.c ... a68e_o.png Look at the bottom cost. NONE OF THEM ARE WORTH IT =K I have an iTouch, and jailbraked it and made it also have a Gameboy/Color/Advance emulator, SNES emulator, and I can find pretty much unlimited ROMS online. GET THE ITOUCH. You wouldn't want to jailbrake your phone, because what if Apple could track you down! I can post some pics of how awesome my iTouch is. But when you get the iTouch, you're buying a music player, video player, Gameboy Advance, Super Nintendo thingy, a photo viewer, a portable caldendar, and tons more. And you HAVE a phone! o.o
You'll eventually get used to the keyboard... And about the jailbreak... as long as you jailbreak it isn't even illegal (well apple claimed it is but there has been no lawsuit so far) as long as you don't unlock you're defenetly fine... It's a pretty hard decision, but I'll tell you, if you buy an ipod touch now you'll probably be buying an iphone pretty soon
Not true AT ALL. If you have a WORKING PHONE, the iTouch has everything else you need. Having internet WHEREVER you go is messed up. Seriously. Too many people use their iPhones all the time. Just don't do it. Going on vacation without internet is nice and relaxing!
It depends on what you want... I personally dislike that I can't check my Email all time and that I have two devices instead of one... An advantage of having two is by the way that you won't run out of battery too fast.
Did you not look at the link I posted? Two years = $3600. Why would you want to spend that kind of money to become an internet addict? xD
With most any plan, you're going to end up paying $2.5k over a period of two years. Internet, although it isn't necessary, is a great thing. Check emails, check movie times, read fml. What's not to love? And I do have to give props to Apple for making their software work wonderfully. Everything flows, and although you do get crashes, they are few and far between. Safari browser on the iPhone/Touch is simply amazing. Its smooth, and isn't choppy like some other phone browsers. Way to go, Steve. Although I'm not impressed with the upgrade from 3G to 3GS. :| They didn't improve on things that actually needed improving (aside from the camera).
$20k on food? you're addicted xD (about $30 a day) it's like on of those life insurance commercials, or one where you feed an Ethiopian orphan for a year. Just a dollar a day. Doesn't sound so bad then, does it? I'm definitely not addicted to internet, or my phone. There are times when I go into town without my phone and don't even realize until I get back home. People will pay a price for the convenience of internet anywhere you go.
Interesting.. So what is this 'jailbreaking'? Does it allow for you to download apps that cost money for free? Or is it like downloading user-made apps or something?
The latter You could do the first thing by torrenting real apps and use WinSCP to transfer it to iPod, but we cannot discuss that here, and I just pay for them. I've read a bunch of articles saying how difficult it is for them to make money, and seriously, who wouldn't pay 1USD for Peggle But yeah. The emulators are user(programmer)-made, and are highly regarded Jailbreaking takes off some security crap so you can essentially screw with your iTouch/iPhone however you want. I have lots of guides bookmarked, so just PM me for links. It's confusing at first to get the hang of WinSCP (for putting ROMS on the device), but it gets easier and easier.
This hookers. They get up the #1 on the app dls, cancel their sale, and then they up the price to $5. >.>
I can't tell you what to do obviously, but I would go with the iphone 2, but I would most likely want to jailbreak it if I did.
well this all depends on what you're looking for. The iphone OS runs flawlessly, both my mom and my brother have iphone 3g's(not 3gs, but plural of 3g xD) and i love to mess around on my mom's phone just because apple has done an amazing job of creating a phone that can do it all. The touch is awkward at first and is the reason i have a tilt(fucking things break every fucking six months and at&t won't let me switch to an iphone until my contract is up and my warrant ends this december and my contract ends next august...) but after messing around on the iphone for just a couple days the touch screen becomes almost second nature, and you find that it is truly better than having a hard keyboard, unless of course you wanna type without looking which is the only advantage i can find that a hard keyboard has to an iphone keyboard. But if you personally love your n95 an itouch will definately suffice with the wifi and access to most of the apps that the iphone can use you will be getting a very good product. The only setback is of course, the cost if you're not upgrading. you can probably get an iphone 3g off of ebay for somewhere near $100 but you'd have to get a contract with at&t to use it unless you wanna spend some $1200 dolalrs for an unlocked phone.
