I have encountered a problem with my sony dcr vx2000 again. The main ribbon that connects to the main motherboard chip to the tape and power controls cracked and ripped on the connector. I noticed some playback issues, so i decided to open it up when i noticed this crack. I tried to take the broken ribbon out to repair and it finished ripping instead as once those things get it, they are hard to get out. This ribbon doesn't have a clip to hold it in place and is less then a 1/3rd of an inch wide. It has 4 distinct fat lines in the ribbon, with a bunch of smaller lines. It controls sending of data between the main motherboard and the tape + power/mode control. I would just order the replacement part as i have removed this broken ribbon and put it back with out any problems, as this ribbon splits into about 10 directions to control a lot of important functions. With out it, i can't turn it on even. its path is somewhat complex and its vital to the camera, but i can't find the part number. I've been looking through the Sony parts store without success of finding which part it is. I don't really know, it doesn't have a part number on the ribbon, just an id tag number, which was put their for manufacturing purposes, but is not the part number. The problem is this cameras so advanced and has so many little parts, 100's of them. Its a prosumer grade camera, and for sure not worth replacing, as it would be very expensive. They were 3k new when released, and now sell for around $1000-1500 used. If anyone can help me locate this part or offer any help, thank you in advanced. I can replace it just fine, i just can't find the part i need to order.
This link is the sevice manual 92 pages of diagrams... Surely, you'll find the part number in there http://members.home.nl/sony.nl.camcorde ... VX2000.pdf
ug... i'm sure it is, but all it does is tell part numbers and crap ad how to fix basic problems. It would be helpful if i knew the part number, but without the part number, its nearly impossible to figure out which one is really the right ribbon. It takes something on a 3d scale and puts in into a few 2d images, that flatten where boards and chips are with no real time location. None of these chips are even close to where these diagrams show them. These diagrams just show that they are there, and make finding where they all belong inside the camera impossible. Thanks for trying though
