ok, so my family got new comcast internet which is very fast, but my computer disconnects at least 10x a day. Its the only computer that disconnects from the internet and I think it is because i was the 1st to configure to the network. My computer finds two internets from my house: HOME2.4GHZ and HOME5GHZ. All the other computers in the house only show HOME2.4GHZ. All I think that i need to do is Get rid of any memory of any internet connections my computer has made so that I can be like the rest of the computers that connect to my network. Friends of mine have just come to my house, recognized the 2.4ghz and had no problem whereas my computer is constantly losing connection. I run windows XP on a dell laptop with a strong wireless card. All i want to do is Wipe my computers memory from an internet standpoint. If ther is no way to do this without wiping the whole computer, i dont know what im going to do, but im not in the mood to wipe my whole computer. Thanks for any help!
The problem is the brand of the laptop XD Jokes apart, Dell have a "power saving " function for their wireless card that often cuts the wireless connections. In the device manager, go to the properties of the wireless card and see if you can disable those function. That solved the problem on my last 2 laptops
Have you only compound problems or other different kind? Trial set the MTU value of your network card to 1492
