I made this out of pure bordom... It's not very good. But any suggestions on how I can make the planets reflect in the water perfectly. I have a water tool. But that would mess up the original water. I use paint.net by the way Before::: AFTER::: thanks for everyones suggestions and help!
I would lasso it, copy it, flip horizontally, squish it on the x axis to about 1/3 origianal reduce it's opacity and smudge it and feather the edges then place it on the water below the real version where the background color matches and voila. Except your ringed planet was on a blue background and the water where it was supposed to go was red and I didn't have the source image so I didn't bother.. And then I actually did it and decided to host and show it.
yours looks so good!!! I tried following those directions... but they went way over my head... I am still a beginnner... I just couldnt get it to look right... But I have been playing... and so far this is the closest I have gotten. I had to remake the water effect. thoughts... suggestions?
punkydew the last one looks amazing youve pretty much nailed it how did you get the water effect to ripple over the actual image if you know what i mean....oh you use a diff program but any idea how i could do that on photoshop?
The new water color and ripples look very good except there is a 50 or so pixels high strip on the bottom that doesn't match the rest of the water, maybe jut crop it out? Also the ringed planet still looks very drab, it needs to have crisper colors to look real. Other wise excellent work :yup:
hmm I know it kind of looks out of place there. But I really wanted a ringed planet in the picture somewhere because I am pretty much obsessed with them and I think they are more sci fi looking. Mabey I can find a better place thats not so obvious. Or blow up the rings and just have them coming up on the horizon over the mountain? thanks! I'm not sure about photoshop. But in this program there is a plug in. It's just called water effect. And you press that and you can adjust the blur, distance and some other things. you're right about that. I didn't even notice. On my next run I will try and crop it out and see how it looks.
The second one looks great. I've never used Paint.net, I'm more of a photoshop kind of guy, but I think that you should move over to Photoshop if you were to get a free copy somewhere.
I think the saturn-y planet would eb more realistic if you resized and blurred or faded it a bit. It just seems very unrealistically clear. Otherwise, I like it alot
Ok I totally redid the ringed planet since I even admit it stood all out of sorts. But since I love rings I added the new ones I put it up in the first post. Let me know if you like this one better
Much better! The full moon and the crescent are annoying me a bit with the positions, though. They're too symmetrical. Try moving the moon to the left, near the edge of the cloud, and leave the crescent. Also, the big rings would look better if they were tilted a bit more horizontal, and the colors had more purple- the black-greyness stands out so foreign-ly, almost like tire tracks that ran over a painting. It's just getting better and better though!
