This is one of the first images I've made (other than crappy images for Mac programs..) so please, try to be nice ^^. I understand that it sucks lol.
    Ok, brace yourself.
I tried out the blur tool, it was the only way I could find to make the head more.. Clear.
I'm using Adobe Photoshop CS (which I downloaded/obtained LEGALLY ^^)
Anyways, I just got it so I don't know much.
Does anyone know how to make a part of an image look shiny? trying to blur a white line just makes it.. White. Not shiny lol xD (I've tried it out... Three times -.-)
I AM AWARE IT NEEDS MAJOR IMPROVEMENT BTW!
So please post any tips or things I could do differently.

If you want to make something shiny/vibrant then just copy the layer and put the layer blending option to overlay or soft light=]

Try to give it a border, to do this simply just select the marquee tool, then create a new layer, press Ctrl + A, then right click and select stroke. Fiddle with this till you have a decent border =]

Also a final thing, download some brushes (http://www.deviantart.com) because they really help alot!

Maybe if you werent to blur the text to make it jump out?

I have never used photoshop but i am sure you could drop a shadow on the text and maybe give the whole thing a border?

But for a first go it isnt too bad :)

Just randomly muck around with all the tools and just find some nice combos :)

Thanks so much man! I'm trying your tips out now. I will post my next result in about 30 minutes.
    ---
As for the person who said that I shouldn't blur the words- I did that on purpose. To make it blend ^^. Adds texture kinda.
    ---
    EDIT:
I can't find a Morquee tool, and when I search help for "Border" it tells me to go to modify... But modify is grey and so I can't select it :'(
    ----
    EDIT (Again lol)
    Heres my finish result...
    Brace yourself.. Again...

I played around with the effects a lot and atempted to make a border... With the draw brush lol.

Make it a little bit smaller. add a border, and try blending the render across the sig so it matches.

    Lol fail.
I Just mentioned in the past posts that I can't make a border. I don't know how. Nice reading skill lol.
I wasn't using a render. I will however use one at my third attempt.

lol to make a border make your sig/image/whatever the eff your trying to make then save it as a .png/.jpeg/again whatever you want then in the .png not the .psd got to image>canvas size and just make it like 2-4 pixels bigger for width and height then fill the transparent part(the grey and white checkerboard pattern) with a dark color that matches :) and also definitely definitely definitely definitely oh and did i mention definitely? xD get rid of the glowing edges effect i'm sorry but that makes it look worse xD you'll find that glowing edges effect hardly ever looks all that good on the main render xD

Go to pixel2life.com and search for signature tutorials. Although they may seem cheap and lame, tutorials are a good way to learn how to do stuff.

    to make a border.

    Select All > Edit > Stroke > 1px > Black > OK
[This will give you thin line around it]

    or

    Select All > Edit > Stroke > 3px > Black > Ok
    Edit > Stroke > 2px > White > OK
    Edit > Stroke > 1px > Black > Ok
[This will give you to 2 lines border, but not trans]

    I get this error:
Cloud not stroke the layer because there is nothing to stroke
    Gah..
    Oh, and my next one..
Thats my second run on an entirely different one. Tried to play around with the Render a little bit. How do I select the body in the picture (falco) and put him on my background (my render) because I had to smudge the white box around him that I then smudged and made an aura out of it ^^

That's better a little but you're doing too much with the smudge tool... if you use the smudge tool too much you start to get weird parts that don't fit :) and to remove pictures from their backgrounds check this out :)
    here

i just made it cuz this a basic skill anybody who wants to learn graphics needs and i couldn't find anything about it in the tutorials section :)

and for the border everybody is trying to make it too complicated xD just once you've finished your sig save it as a .png and open the .png then just change the canvas height and width by like 2-5 pixels then just fill that in with any color that will help offset your sig from the white forum background :)

you do know that, after you have done your sig. before you save to .png you should always APPLY IMAGE.

Create a new layer > image > apply image > ok

this will merge all the layers into one.

then use my method of making a border

    Select All > Edit > Stroke > 1px > Black > OK
[This will give you thin line around it]

    or

    Select All > Edit > Stroke > 3px > Black > Ok
    Edit > Stroke > 2px > White > OK
    Edit > Stroke > 1px > Black > Ok
[This will give you to 2 lines border, but not trans]

THE ONLY REASON WHY YOU GET:
"Could not stroke the layer because there is nothing to stroke"
is because you are on the layer that you use your brush on or something like that.

    simple bordering ideas:

Obviously, you can play around with colors, lol
