I've noticed that neopets now has people sponsoring their featured games. This was never done before. I also noticed that it was sponsored by disney.com, and Disney is a very successful and rich company. And with the opening of the NC mall with items that disappear after about three months, you start to wonder if neopets is trying to get out of a hole. To be honest, I just want people's opinions on whats up financially with neopets.
I dont think its so much as getting out of a hole, i think it is getting greedy. Either that or the company is expanding and wants to increase income to compensate for extra staff/offices etc
True, but remember that due to requests, neopets has removed lots of ads which means that they have a much lower income. I think it had something to do with an infected banner which gave people trojan viruses. I was a victim, but lucky for me I have two antivirus programs working for me.
They may have removed lots of ads but ads wouldnt have been that big of an income. Theres the money they would get from other companies for people signing up, the thousands/millions of people on premium, the NC mall, the other ads that they did not remove... I wish i was a victim! I would have sued
I wish I had the money to sue at the time i was infected . Oh, I forgot to mention that now people who sign up get 1k free in np. If it was in nc i would've signed another account up . There are lots of ways to defend neopets, but also lots of ways to say that they're in a bit of a hole and be half right. By the way, has anyone ever gotten a good RE? I don't know what that means anymore. Seriously, all i get are grundo leader attacks, spiders, bad dreams, the pant devil, the ghosts, and/or the bug bros. I guess you now know where you're getting your np on the money tree now .
I'm not really sure if they are in a hole or if they're just getting too big for their pants. Viacom is a huge company after all. But, I would've sued them if I had've gotten a virus off of the site. I seriously would have because, after all, it says that its safe. Ads or not. Hrm.
I don't remember what the ad said, or what it was about, but I just remember getting when I was gonna customize my neopet... I believe the virus name was "trojan.vundo" I've gotten it several times, and its been removed-several times. I'm going to sleep now-it's almost midnight... Good night!!
The reason that the new mall shop items are only temporary is that it removes them from a legal loophole about online transactions and non tangent online goods.
I highly doubt that neopets is going bankrupt. I have seen a few games that are really old and are featured. But I have seen that they have put up more adverts. I guess that TNT just wants more money! Don't we all.
People are willing to pay for money, as long as people will buy these things, Neopets will keep milking the consumers of their money. Much like many other gaming organizations IE: Blizzard.
I doubt it. The reason why they have all the ads and sponsors and stuff is because Neopets IS a business, whether we like it or not. And for a business to be successful, especially on a corporate level, you have investors. No one will invest in your company if they do not get profit from it. If Neopets were to just keep it at a minimum (just bills and costs and no profit), they'd be screwed. People wouldn't just hand thier money over for no reason. They need to make as much money as possible to keep their investors happy and finding more and more investors. So, with that said, I really doubt they are going bankrupt.
I'm pretty sure they aren't going bankrupt. They just want more money to expand and get new equipment and people.
I doubt neopets will ever go bankrupt, not with all those adds and the new NC mall. If you think about it, they must make quite a bit of money especially when there's such a large group of people playing on the site.
I agree on that. As far as the current statistics show, the site is worth millions, plus the incomes on advertisement will probably rise since the number of users is still increasing. It's already a known fact that neopets keeps banned/frozen user-accounts on their site, so it looks like they're having more user-accounts, which means a higher income on advertisement. I think TNT is just getting greedy. They started with the concept of people buying site-features for real money some while ago, when the premium accounts came. Since this was quite a big success, they're looking for more like that. That's where NC mall comes from. Making the clothes available for only a few months is just a clever marketing trick, so they don't have to make so many clothes (this saves working hours) cause users will buy them over and over again.
I dunno... they are probably just getting more money in order to expand offices, do more stuff, etc. Neopets is increasing in popularity so I think they are A-OK on the financial front.
