Well I think he gave it...the ABer is acting like another "computer" basically, even if you're on the same computer, and when it logs you in, you're logged out everywhere else.

actually the answer is it's a cookie issue that is having an effect on abers... and when it expires

The situation is being looked into

sorry i knew you hadn't as marlene told me about a cookie which expires 30 mins after it's placed so that "protect your accounts" is bollocks as it still logs me out when i m only abing coz of that damn cookie
what would happen if we were able to make it so that that cookie didn't expire by placing a perminate one on our browser?

It's not as simple as that.

Here's what I wrote to Expon (as I don't work for Neopets... I can't be sure exactly what they are doing):

    1. Apparently Neo is setting a cookie that is unique to the user and browser and is stored at neo. (how else would they know a computer has been log'd in at another location) If you load up Firefox and login, that's OK... but If you load up an aber or IE... it'll then log you out of the first browser.

Herein lies the problem. If someone is abing... and they stop the aber... and then load up their browser and login (cause they'll have to now), unbeknownst to them... they have log'd out their aber. Now if they go back to the aber and start it up again, ie not login again... they are refreshing the login page, even tho it has the URL of the shop. It's a sure way to catch abers... especially if they are continually refreshing login pages.

#2. The cookie issue doesn't end there. It seems to expire after about 30 minutes. So you could be abing the login screen after 30 minutes without knowing. This could affect the usershop as when it's banned, it'll wait till the ban is over and restart... hence refresh a login page... tho you can see it if you look at the log... nothing appears.

That's the problem with abers... you can't see what the aber is seeing. Something I'd always look for is this image: aisha_signup.gif That's always on the login page.

I found the only way I can make sure I am log'd in is to change the Neopoints amounts... ie stick 100 NP's in the bank... and then I log into the aber. In the user info... it'll show the correct amount... but only if you logout and then login all the time to the aber.

And to add insult to injury... let's say you're using a proxy... if someone else log's into Neopets using that proxy... they'll log you out too.

it's not a very big thing to recode but shame the super aber won't be recoded as it's in a different language (i think) as all you need to do is everytime you see some of those things on the loggin screen get the program to log back in
