So there's a new little fashion thing called "New Rave" that has become very popular in the big cities here in Sweden.
It's basicly about dressing up in old crap from the 90's and combine the clothes and accessories until you look as ugly as possible.
Is this horrible phenomena only happening in Sweden or is it a worldwide spread thing?

And what do you think about it?

Does it involve bright colors that were in for the rave era?

    yep

same here in england. i have a feeling the "scene" kids have gone on to be "new rave"

haha, and they think they're so cool.

Chavs would never be "new rave". It's their opposite. :p

Personally, I hate New Rave because people actually seem to like it.
And it makes everyone look buttugly.
All of my friends have started dressing this way, and I'm just sorry for their sake since they will look back at this in about 7 months and be ashamed.

The 90's should never be associated with fashion.

It's 80's and was started over here in the UK. Emos can't switch it involves far to much colour. I love it but one item at a time if you dress totally new rave you look like a clown threw up on you. I love the music as well (gossip, Klaxons, electro) Yay for new rave

The first picture didn't work so I had to take it off.
    It's basicly a combo between the 80's and 90's.
Here in Sweden most people are chosing clothes from the 90's and dress up.
(un)Fortunately I couldn't find any pictures of Swedish New Ravers :p
Here the mainly dress in one coloured shirts (any neon colour), jeans and some bright hoodie with ugly patterns

Of course, there are some new rave clothes that are very neat, but most just look horrible.
One of the weirdest accessories I've heard of is hanging a juicebox in your necklace.

It seems like most people who listen to electro has went over to New (Nu) Rave.
I don't listen to electro, but I don't mind it.
New Rave is just a bad version of it, pretty much anyone could easily create a hit song in the category, since everything sound the same. :?

Do you get sweedish music or US or UK? In my opinion the UK music scene has just taken off. Recently by band who are more popular over here than in the US The Gossip/Scissor Sisters ect.

    Re: ^^

Mostly UK when it comes to New Rave.
But also some Swedish people who are strongly influenced.

I do love much music from the UK, the Streets, Lady Sov, Kano etc. are all great artists and their music is awesome, but that's not New Rave, that's more Grime

But those other pictures you posted are just posers who try and take it too far.

I was aware that it's the Klaxons, but New Rave is very influenced by them so I used them as an example =)

edit; Anyone, just watch a video with Trashfashion and you'll understand what New Ravers look like.
    There's one right here.

I thought the Streets were big in the UK?
At least like two or three years ago when he produced good material?

    ^^

Street wear influenced the fashion scene: all over print hoodies, crazy printed tees, sneaker freakers. Even though the gossip only released one single over here I would say they are the figure head of New Rave

    No, not the fasion scene.
I'm talking about people on the streets being influenced by them.
And no, not all people were influenced by them, that's like saying that every rocker likes Elvis.
But many of those I know that are New Ravers, have at least heard of or know of them, and like their 'outfits'.
