So how many of you actually laugh out loud when you type lol? ...Sometimes you might, but usually your not really laughing out loud...so instead of lol when chatting, how bout something like li(lauging inside) or twf(that was funny)...what do you guys think? I just think lol is ovverused...
I don't really laugh out loud but I giggle some times and and I don't laugh/giggle often so I use lol.
Sometimes I'll laugh out loud if something is funny enough. Other times I'm just slightly amused. However, I don't think I can change now. I have several years of "lol" in my system, and I can be bad when I comes to breaking habits~
I never do, and I have wondered this myself. Why, do we type something which is a lie? Isn't it the same as typing I killed you!. You can type it, but that doesnt give it a point. I suppose it makes conversations seem more "happy".
well i did use lol a lot but have found that recently ive been using a simple hehe instead...usually if i acually laugh out loud i will do a lmao or somthing like that
hey i usually say lmao if i actually laugh ..lol means i think its funny but i cant be screwed laughing
I doubt very few people really laugh out loud so its just a quick response. and the L and O are so close to each other its easier than typing heh or hehe especially when your typing with one hand while taking a drink or eating pizza. If we changed it to LI or somthing like that we would then have a bunch of new people asking us what it meant whenever we typed it in. Thereby causing more headache than typing LOL which everyone knows nowadays.
There is a video on youtube about lol xD <== I guess i use that http://youtube.com/watch?v=up-RX_YN7yA "I'm typing LOL, but Im not laughing" hehe
I think people should type what they mean. When I find something kind of humourous I put "lol" or "heh". Funnier comments/things = caps like "HAHA" or "LOL". Very Funny things are longer; "HAHAHAHAH", "LOLOLOL" or "LMAO", "LMFAO", "ROFLMFAO" etc, etc...You can usually tell how hard I am laughing in real life by my response to something funny. The sad part is the habit of saying "lol" even when something isn't funny when you are in a regular conversation. A lot of the time I use "lol" or a specific smiley at the end of a sentence, lol =P. Habit. I don't know what else to put! I usually put them where there would be an equivalent to an awkward silence in an IM convo or email.
I get irritated with the overusing of 'lol'. Like when someone types finish a sentence with a lol at the end. If it's once or twice, it's okay, but if its for countless times, i get pissed. This is why I don't really take online conversations too seriously.
