I don't know if we are allowed to talk about this but in my country games/music/software pirating it's just plain. Sure, people selling pirated copies are being caught by police everyday but I'm talking about us, normal people who just downloads music/games/software just to listen/play/use it for personal achievement. Some of my friends are proud of those big collections of games or music standing in a bookcase or in a box and everytime I visit their house, it's eye-catching. Now let's debate. Advantages or disadvantages of pirated/original things. How are these choices affecting our life and the reason beyond this.
I am proud of my large CD collection, I enjoy supporting artists that make good music. Simple as that But, I use downloading as a means to try out an album i'm not sure of, or if an album i've been anticipating leaks i'll probably get it right away. I'm not opposed to downloading, but if you like it buy it The advantages of owning the actual CD are numerous, you can read the lyrics and flip through the booklet as you listen to the music but they cost money, having a pirated copy is free and just doesn't have the same appeal to me. EDIT: Sharing our opinions on the matter is fine, we just can't provide sources to obtain these files.
obvious dis advantage of original >>> $$$ i mean, where i come from (thailand) no one really care UNLESS you are like loaded with cash. overthere, poor ppl wear lorex all the time, haha and that 's be its CHEAP and it look real enough. its handy especially, when you have job inter view, fake leather shoe, omega watch, the suit, they added up under $100 USD!! dis advantage of fake? mmm.....mmm... THEY DON"T LAST LONG, lol
i'm a torrent man myself. with movies especially, u.s. prices are ridiculous, especially when you don't know whether the movies gonna be good or bad. theater prices are like 12 bucks a ticket, more than i'm willing to pay.
Like Aries said, if its worth it, buy it. I'm willing to "sacrifice" a few bucks to buy an album from my favorite artist. I'm not however going to spend $1000 bucks getting Microsoft Window$ or Adobe Photo$hop.
If you can get something for free easily rather than going out and paying money for it I would always choose get it free. Its not like Im taking it and telling 50 people I have it to show off. Most of the time if I have something the only people that know are people on my MSN list who ask about it =/
Its not so much about showing off as it is depriving the original maker of his/her deserved payment. Pirating things is essentially the same thing as shop-lifting or thievery. You wouldn't want someone to take your work, so why should you take others'?
I torrent new anime like a mad woman. But if it is any good and I want to actually keep a copy of it I buy it legit. Sadly by the time it gets licensed for US sales months have gone by and it is generally hacked apart by the subbers. There are some titles that I have had to resort to the hong kong bootlegs, they will never make it here legit.
Not to knock anyone off, but what you guys don't realize is that the warez you download is most likely loaded with Virus's made undetectable by crypters and byte adders, thus rendering your anti virus protection obsolete. In the long run, you end up hurting yourself, by downloading recklessly.
I don't worry one bit about viruses. Because viruses can't make a dent on my rock solid Linux system.
Yep Yeah, buts also good for regular uses too. Linux is pro at everything (except for very hard-core gaming) Its secure, it doesn't hog system resources like Window$ does, its fast, etc. Its free (open-source) and has amazing community support. Plus has potential to look 1000x better than Vi$ta or Macs: Bask in the glory of Compiz-Fusion: http://www.youtube.com/results?search_q ... type=&aq=f Look at how I pwned Billy w/ Linux: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=18482&p=223527#p223527 I could go on and on, but I'll refrain from doing so since I have already done it several times
you TRUELY a Linux fan, hehe Yes i can see why you like it... i was thinking to install it... but i'm a 'hardcore' game person you see. =P some of the game, just can't install in the linux
Yessir Well, you see, there's a very nice program called Wine which emulates Windows quite nicely in fact. You should be able to play some (if not most) games on Linux via Wine
For real? i GOT to check that out... my computer is getting out of date, esp with the new vista... such a memory consuming!!! EK!!!! downloading linux now, =P
Woohoo, another person who I've convinced to get Linux! What distro are you getting? I recommend Ubuntu for beginners
