http://archives.newspapertree.com/envir ... ective.pdf Take a look at these pictures and tell me what your initial thoughts and feelings are. They show the Earth is relation to other planets.. I found it truely shocking how insignificant we are. PS: Wasnt sure where to put this so if a mod wants to move it then feel free
Tis in right place, and is quite fascinating It certainly does make you think about a LOT OF STUFF. I shall keep reading this thread with interest <3
My physics teacher showed me it in the intro to the space physics topic... It really is an eye opener
Makes us think that aliens really could exist. There HAS to be some sort of biological lifeforms out there.
Most scientists are looking for water. Why just water? There could be other lifeforms that don't live on water. They need to broaden their search. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7hsQA3wo3Q We watched that video in science class. Really interesting!
That's what i said to my ex, why do we rule out life because there's no gravity/oxygen/carbon dioxide/water etc We obviously adapted to live with the above, so what's stopping another bacteria evolving into something that can live without them, in my eyes nothing, and i've never had a solid arguement to counter that. (Could be better explained but i feel really ill, forgive me <3)
wow, that is really weird. you don't think about that in your everyday life that there actually exists things beyond us 0: and when you think about it , there could be civilizations waay ahead of us .. I still find it hard to believe though, but yeah.. it could be .
Nah, we get it! Hope you feel better -hug- We did this thing, where we found out the number of possible planets that could contain water, and it was like 4 billion some haha. The universe, as we know it, is infinite so there HAS to be another planet out there with life.
It is very humbling to see us compared to Antares.. even though we're practically invisible on that scale. That thing is HUGE.
dayum!! Antares isnt even the biggest star out there.. never thought about how small we are compared to anything else out there.. i wonder if there are other planets that hold life? i mean, 1 Antares could hold millions of Earth sized planets, who's to say we don't have an Earth-twin out there?
No Gravity/low gravity - Big weight adaptation no oxygen - another gas that participates in breathing Anyway, you're totally right. You had made me thought about an argument but couldn't find it.
Exactly, there could be another human planet out there going life can't exist because we have no -gravity and are the only planet to not have gravity etc Or they could say we eat tungsten steel metal, no other planet has enough therefore we are the only ones who can live. We adapted to what's on earth, nothing is stopping bacteria adapting to mars/venus or other solar systems. Therefore i am confident life much exist.
And who is to say that there arent more elements to be found in the universe?? There could be millions more compounds as well.... Life doesnt have to have oxygen that is just an assumption we make based on the life of this planet...
Well... Are we insignificant because we are smaller? We couldn't exist like we are on one of those big suns I mean just the gravitivy would probalby kill us... Still it gives you strange feelings to see how small we are.
T_T! What's with the newest wave of gravedigging! On topic: Despite all the possible life that COULD exist, it's boggling to wonder how much of it is self aware and has the mind capacity like humans.
