So i log on this morning and theres about 10 transaction of liek $200 from a company IVE NEVER HAERD OF

and incase you guys are like 'Dennis, maybe it was a company in the past you bought stuff off..'. NO. I have only ever used paypal twice in my life for purchases. I have always been paranoid about being hacked.. So mmm..

Anyway, I thought nothing of it, i only had like $6 in the paypal anyway.. However, later i realised that it was connected to my bank account.

So i rushed onto my internet banking, about $3000 worth of withdrawals had been attempted. Luckily, all my money is in a seprate savings account and probaly only had $20 in the main account. So theres all these refused withdrawals for paypal in the transaction history..

however the main problem is since its been overwithdrawn like 10 times, i have been fined a fee each time they did it.
so im about $-411.11 in my account right now...

so what are the steps to take in regards to this situation?

You'd definitely want to talk to your bank. I assume they will be able to sort everything out for you.

That really sucks bro, do you have any idea of how it happened?

Well, now I'm scared of using paypal! Maybe someone just guessed your Password or something? Anyways, talk to your bank manager and he can sort it out for you I'm sure.

Talk to your bank, insurance if you have it, and I'd talk to the police as well.

You're right about that, they probably won't have much luck finding whoever did it, but if you contact paypal maybe they can get the IP of the person who tried to withdraw the money and bust them.

if u dont use ur paypal account i think you should terminate your account on paypal. it wont get you your money back but it will stop it happening.

if you want to keep your paypal account change your password every few months you might think that you cant be bovered changing it but it will make it less likely for it to happen. also dont use a password that is in the dictonary because it can be brute forced.

Yeah, close your PayPal account and reopen a new one.

The bank should clear that $400, no chance of catching the person(s) who did it though.
Unless Internet Banking logs IP addresses?

    Wow that sucks.

Let your bank know ASAP what has happened and also Paypal. They'll take the dishonour fees off.

    Good luck sorting it out.
