How many of you guys are like me and like to build computers for fun? Or even build them and sell them to clients to make some cash? I love doing this. Share your thoughts!!
HAH! Indeed it is! Cheaper and you can customize them too your specifications and what you plan on using it for! much much better deal than buying a name brand pc.
Well I am agree with you. I would like to build my computer for fun. But I am not agree to sell them. As I didn't get why you want to sell it ?. Just for cash. If we buy it than it will be more costly than selling it. Whats your idea behind it.
When you buy all the parts seperately, it is a lot cheaper than if you bought it premade at a store. For example. I am running: Windows 7 premium AMD Anthlon II x4 620 Processor 2.60 GHz 4 gig ddr3 ram 750 gig HD DVD r/rw ATI Radeon HD 4670 Crossfire w/1gig ram ddr3 I paid 630 dollars. If I calculated right, it would sell on retail for a couple thousand.
I don't build PCs for fun NOR for other people unless they're friends. I just don't see the point since I tend to have an issue with not really putting in much effort into things if it's not for people who are my friends/myself. It sounds selfish I know but I just don't always put in so much time and effort for people I barely know and probably won't appreciate it I probably won't make much money off this anyways.
I only built my own PC since I only need to use 1. But in the future when I have more money I do plan on doing custom mods for things such as my computer, game systems, controllers, etc. I however never did think about building a computer and sell it for a profit. This is a good way to make a profit now that I think about it. I just need about $800 to start and probably what I can build with that could be worth $1500 or something like that. The $700 profit can easily keep me going with building more or I can use it for something else.
I have always built my own PCs and often told those that purchased their pre-made PCs from retailers like Dell or HP that they were being ripped off big-time because if they do it DIY they probably can save more at least 50% of the costs - which IMO can be put to better use like upgrading other parts.
yeah I build my PC every 2 years or so, its good fun and save lots. Only spend about $1000 AU on it but get a really good system. Screens I buy maybe every 3 years, I havnt really looked for screens as I move my pc to connect it to the 42 LCD TV I got to watch movies. I have built PC for friends and other family but I try to avoid it now. As people ask me all the time and I cant be stuffed and strings are always attached. eg. - will you move my files/ photos/ movies for me - what about this old software that i use once a year and lost the discs to reinstall it - will you remove and recycle my old pc (they are never worth keeping) - I just bought a new ipod/software/game/hardware how do i set it up ....( really im not a 24/7 support guy for just helping you once) Tips if you do make a computer for them - Always charge them for it! if you do it for free they will expect more free stuff from you! trust me on this I work in I.T. - Make sure from the start what they expect and what your going to be doing.
Aaah, I did this with my current computer and was dumbfound for most of the process. I'm not all that inside-technology-savvy and erm, the reason why I wanted to build my own comp was because it seemed that each comp I bought from stores would be useless with next year's games and I was blowing away too much money on things that I didn't really care about having on my comp. Set a $1,500 limit for parts and bought everything, but man, it was so annoying to get everything, I was really hoping for an nVidia GTX 275, however no freaking store would sell them, and the difference in price between the 260 and the 280 was retarded, so I kept going around trying to find one, then the CPU was annoying to find too... All in all, when I got the whole thing, I put it together with great expertise, so much so that I forgot to plug the power into the mobo and was wondering why the hell my comp isn't working. All in all, eventually it was put together and I'd feel much better doing it a second time around
I always build my own computers (friends and family also bum the service off me), it's a lot cheaper and you can build a way better system. For parts, I go to memory express (computer parts retailer) because they will match any price you find online. I'd recommend buying off newegg if you can't find the parts you need locally, I've bought tons of parts from them and they've always arrived in great condition.
Building your own computer is definitely cheaper and I usually get my parts from Canadacomputers or NCIX or sometimes just surf tigerdirect. But try building a laptop from scratch, now that's a challenge
I've been planning on saving a bit of cash and building my own computer. *drool* lol Getting tired of Walmart's crappy Dells, but tbh I'd be lost with knowing what to even get to build my own, so I've got a lot of reading to do. xD
I build my first one just last year and it was much cheaper then retail. However I don't like desktops anymore, I am thinking of going for notebooks nowadays so I dont think I will be building more! XD
No doubt, it is great fun as well as, it will give you some new ideas and techniques to bring improvement in new ways and means to use of computer technology
I build computers for 2 reasons, to help hack/cheat and to help others fix theres to put up some extra cash. Both I see as good reasons.
My friend's brother built a computer.. He bought parts of newegg. I was suprized, he spent about $500 total I believe and his computer is faster than the $1500 computer that I have. and it looks 10 times cooler...lol I would built my own if I had the time.
You can save loads by building your own if you know where to get the parts. However most people have trouble putting it together and making sure it is all compatible.
