Heres the info on both: College A: ++ Awesome Professor Closer to Home (I'm not sure if this is a good thing or not) + More Social Clubs + Co-ed dorms ++ Safe + Walking distance to stuff around town + Dorms come with fridge and microwave + New laptops every 2 years (but I already have a wonderful laptop...) + Good writing center and such (I'd more likely be working there than using the services) + Possibility to attend conferences with professor --- en-suite baths (less privacy, and more people have access to your stuff) don't know: study abroad program College B: + Communal Baths +++ Close to Canada (with opportunities to go to Canada regularly) + Easy to navigate the town + Awesome history of the camups + Smaller school/less students + Less Grad Students (you have more of an oppertunity to do your own projects) + $125 gets you an athletic pass for as long as you go there (access to all games and athletic equipment) + If I can get 1 more point on my ACT, I can get a good scholarship ++ Quickly hands-on + Has study abroad program - Freshman Dorm not Co-ed don't know: professors/teaching staff; roommate matching program both colleges cost the same I don't know how much scholarship money I'd get from either. tell me /why/ I should go to either
What's the ranking of both? Check US News. And what major/area do you want to pursue, and which school is higher ranked for that major/area?
That doesn't matter to me, because this will be just my undergrad work ^_^ Where I do my grad work really matters to me. I'm going to study Psychology, and what I could gather from the visits, they seem about the same.
At the same time, where you go gor your undergrad affects where you will go for grad school. Someone who goes to, say, JHU for premed will obviously have a much higher chance of getting in to med school than someone with the exact same grades going to UVA for premed. Both are great schools, in fact UVA is more elite in general than JHU, but JHU's pre-med major is first tier whereas UVA's is second tier. That being said, I have heard from some people to choose your undergrad based on where you'd be happiest, not which school has the best ranking.
Based on my experience I'd do college A, good professor goes a long way if your there to get some work done, great mix of recreation and learning I'd say. I personally don't know how much of a positive going to Canada is but whatever floats your boat. One big positive from college B would be the smaller campus/ students if you socialize well it will be a really good time for you, a big campus can easily swallow you up a little (ie. a smaller network) unless your extremely boisterous.
I'd say College A, but post some cons too. Sometimes, it's a "push" that you don't want to go to one college -- not a "pull"
