i'm starting to look at colleges to apply to and am interested in learning other peoples thoughts on schools. so far i've been to Dartmouth, MIT, Tufts, BU, Northwestern, U. of Illinois, U. of Michigan, and U. of Connecticut.
well, i myself am not thinking about colleges quite yet, but in about a week my sister;s going to bucknell. they've got really good academics, and good majors as well. and u. of michigan sent me this letter earlier on in freshman year (i'm a sophomore now) trying to get me to come to their college when i graduate high school, and it said "become a member of the spartan family".
If you are applying to Ive League you better have an impressive transcript and hella recommendations and know how to pwn the essays. My friend got in three years ago and it's costing her over 200k. p.s. Just b/c a college sends you a letter asking you to go there doesn't really mean you can actually go there. They just want your money
i know that. once i got my psat scores back, i got swarms of letters (you should go here! no, here!) asking me to consider applying in three years. and again, my aforementioned sister was amazing. pretty much perfect transcript, third in her class, all ap courses, and she still wasn't good enough for dartmouth, so...
I know someone who gos to Dartmouth. Her mom is an English proff and wrote her admissions essay though. But once you take these ACT's and SAT's you will get tons of letters but I wouldn't go to a college you couldn't afford just because of the name.
i know. i mean, besides. most ivy leagues have really boring majors too. i'd just as soon go to a doinky, non-heard of school because of areas i like, good academics and an affordable tuition. although, about the tuition stuff, princeton is the #1 college in terms of financial aid and scholarships given out.
It's not hard to get the money for tuition if you work hard for scholarships. You're entire senior year should be spent in the guidance office working on scholarships. I did that and I actually get money back from college. It's nice.
lol at the princeton thing. ever heard of cooper union? 2500 kids apply a year, 200 kids get accepted. but once you get in, the tuition is completely covered. Of course, the hard bit is actually getting in.
ya dartmouth and MIT are both stretches for me to get into but i had pretty good sat scores and really good act scores (34 comp :tehe: )
my dad went to cooper union. we have a rocking chair with cooper union on the back of it in our living room. xD
