Progress- Don't laugh at me xD Alright, so I just saw this commercial, and it was meant as a joke but I sort of agree with it. My argument: Here's how progress is BAD. -Government: Good idea? No. Have you seen Uganda lately? Perhaps Iraq? Afghanistan? Uganda (Idi Amin, the guy who killed hundreds of thousands and stole from EVERYONE, including the treasury). Iraq- I don't need to explain that to you (hopefully). Afghanistan- I sure as hell better not have to explain THAT to you -.- -Vaccines: Saving lives? The more we make vaccines, the more viruses/bacterias mutate and kill even more people -Population growth: Have you seen china lately? -Factories: POLLUTION, GLOBAL WARMING, DEATH. -Guns: Death -Bombs: Death So really, what thanks do we owe PROGRESS? (That line was stolen from that commercial I previously talked about)
...Well there are two sides of the coin as always... Just consider this, would you want to live in the world like it was 100 years ago? Let me guess your answer is no
Okay, time to rebut and agree. Government: -Please don't talk about Uganda. Uganda is peachy compared to Zimbabwe.. seriously. -Are you saying there shouldn't be a progressive government? Well, there's one alternative, Fexx, anarchy. -You sure don't. Americans wanted oil. -Afghanistan is in a state of political turmoil. If the US army had invaded there and actually attempted to control the Taliban army after they helped put them in power, the place would probably be in a much better place. The US government pretty much clusterfucked Afghanistan, where they could have (maybe) created a proper government without all this violence, rape, pillaging, executions, etc. Vaccines: -Take away vaccines and we're back to the dark ages. Personally, I'd prefer outbreaks of a relatively harmless flu that can manifest itself as anything from sniffles to bronchitis than the bubonic plague. Cheers. Population growth: -I was in China last year ^_^ -There is nothing wrong with China. Instead of worrying and creating a massive hissy-fit, China chose to build up and create proper housing for everyone. -Not to mention what this has done for their economy. While the whole world, essentially, is in recession, China are still relatively okay - booming even. -Let's not mention how the Chinese believe the sun is red and the sky is purple.. that's another story. Factories: -So you're saying possibly one of the greatest progresses in human existence is causing the end of the world? Maybe. -But why stop at factories? Factories work on the simple process of combustion, generally. Combustion from fire. -Therefore, fire is the root of all evil. Don't even get me started on guns and bombs
Hmm lets see........ Government: Progress might be bad now, but that's the struggle that all developing countries go through in order to become developed. Progress does not stop, it's a process like anything else. Vaccines: Perhaps its a good thing that things kill people, because as you say, there's a lot of people . Population growth: This is all media based, take a good look at the world and what its going to be like in the future. Sure you can say China and India is going to double in population, but does that mean their economy can support it? People tend to die when they don't get fed, and that tends to happen when the economy can't sustain itself. ALSO on that note, you do realize that China has had a 1 child policy for the longest time, and it's not just some flimsy rule either, they enforce it. Then you take a look at nations like Japan...they're going to have a diminishing population because the cost of having a kid is so high that parents just can't afford it. You might say that they have a lot of people now, but if you look around in Japan, what's the general age group? There are nations that seem to be high in population, but that won't stay the same forever. Factories: Pollution yes now, but not forever, hey that's why we have scientists...right? >_> (or are they just there to clone sheep?) Guns: >_> As opposed to blunt instruments? Sure guns are bad because they make killing easier, but we would still kill each other regardless of guns, and using blunt instruments....*shudder* Bombs: Terrible inventions, but on the other hand...don't they prevent world wars?
