There is general consensus that the PS3 can hold its own against the standalone players when it comes to BluRay movie playback. There are two caveats though that need to be pointed out: 1. The PS3 does not have 5.1 analog outputs. What this means is that in order to take advantage of the new high resolution audio formats (Dolby Tru HD and DTS HD) and lossless LPCM audio you will need a receiver that has an HDMI input. 2. The PS3 does not upconvert regular DVD's to 720p or 1080i/p. However, this ability may come with a future software update. Aside from those two things there's little to complain about the PS3's playback of BluRay movies. You may also want to get the optional Bluetooth remote if you're not used to the game controller.
hey umm i saw you posting alota topics of video games here, but it would be better if you posted topics like these in general games this is general discussions
I never knew all that about the PS3 blu-ray player. I thought it would be standard like all other blu-ray players. But thanks for the info. I would like to know the answer to your question as well if anyone here knows.
