So Sony are very proud of their PS3 because its the first console which prevented any persons playing copied games/back-up versions etc on them.... UNTIL NOW?!?!?! http://kotaku.com/5616952/working-plays ... ailer-says Now if this actually does work.. I so want one I'm posting this purely for information purposes. I must warn all users that this type of thing is illegal and should not be purchased. I WILL not be getting one.
I remember when modchips came out for PS2 and I kinda wanted one. It was impossible to do for me though. I didn't trust myself to burn the chip on myself and I didn't trust/want to send my console out to someone else who could do it for me. :maha: I wonder how long it took this guy to do this though... It must've been extremely difficult because Sony was so proud of their uncrackable console. But quick question: will he even be able to do anything with his cracked console? I'm assuming since it was uncrackable until now, there wouldn't be any games floating around on the internet to download.
Oh really?! Why? If the PS3 was uncrackable... what use was it to upload these games online if nobody could play? That's so weird
well idk :\ probably for a future crack of the ps3. Since ps3 games can go up to 40 gbs +, people could burn them one by one every month on a CD for a later crack without paying a fee to your ISP for excessive download
OMGGGGG!!! YEEEESSSSS!!!!! Does anyone have any idea how long it will take for the cracked copies to reach us here in Asia? I hope it's within a month... -.-
i really hope you wont pay 170$ for this haha sony will just patch it in a future release and it wont be good anymore
The only reason its 170 is because its the first mod. Other mod chips will be made available by different manufacturers for less later on most likely.
Another random question: If these games can be up to 40 GB, do they need a special CD to burn them? Or can you get it straight from your comp to the PS3? (Sorry, I haven't had a console since PS2 and idk what these new machines can do now)
From what I understand, you can save games to your Ps3 using that mod chip. So hire + save = friend Which means no disc will be needed if you just download the saved games. And I'm sure PS3 will bring out a firmware update that will make the mod useless... So unless they have a built in autoupdate feature that allows u to overwrite the updated firmware i don't think this will be worth it.
Most mod-chips are advanced enough to avoid that from happening, but Sony and Microsoft just ban instead of try to make patches. lol. I thought Ps3 already had modchips. lol. I remember when they said the xbox 360 wasn't mod-able..... People always find a way. And from what I've learned about them, Sony and Microsoft have technology to detect them, so typically you will get banned signing online with one. They ban the console, not your IP. (well, at least microsoft does).
So don't log into PSN when playing modded games? And take the USB out when you want too. Still good to play single player with.
Yea, that's an option. The mod chips I've seen allow you to disable them. Just not 100% sure if they can still be detected. lol The problem with the Ps3 getting cracked, is now you will start to see alot of cheaters on PS3. Once they find out how to alter game data, it will never end. Modders are always one step ahead. lol I know alot of people that used certain dangerous methods to cheat. lol.... Like burning the modded game to a disk (very long boring complicated/semi-impossible to do) and then before the game loaded they would swap the regular disk with the modded disk. (yes, they had the console and the disk tray taken apart without the cover on.) Very dangerous thing to do because of electrical shocks, the lazer to read the disk can melt your eyes, and if you don't keep the magnet on the disk, it will decide to be a 200 mph Frisbee that will unleash epic doom upon anybody or cat in it's path.
Bahaha, I lol'ed at this. Makes it seem you can turn the console into some high-tech weapon. I'm down. B)
Yeah, but after my elation level went back down to normality, I realized and remembered that Sony's been releasing some games which require patches right? Well, if mod chips don't auto-update, then they could use discs like these that come with patches. If I remember correctly, Final Fantasy 13 had a mandatory patch. I hope that whoever said mod chips can auto-update already was and is right. Okay, I'm back to my excited, elated state
I am ps3 owner but it seems like now in days everyone is charging up there prices. If they didn't have the prices so high ($500 for a ps3 when it first came out) we wouldn't have these problems.
PS3 has better hardware than the Wii or X-Box I heard from a friend. Some military supposedly bought a ton of PS3 for its chips.
