If I log on to an account using a proxy, then turn off the proxy, will Neo still see the account as being accessed by my home (un-proxied) IP?

Also, I'd like to reset my IP address. I've tried unplugging all the cords (including power, etc.) of my family's Internet router overnight, turned it back on in the morning and no change. I tried using ipconfig on Command Prompt, but that didn't seem to do anything, either, unless that was just me being special.

I did that on the desktop computer, since my laptop gets its wireless signal off the desktop. Any ideas?

i believe once you turn off your proxy neo will see your ip address

im not 100% sure how to chance your ip, but if that fails, you can try and use a program to mask it.

That's what I assumed, but then someone told me that that won't happen.
I have Tor and such, it's just that proxies are, of course, extremely slow. Also, I have some legit accounts I want to be sure to protect, since I'm considering ABing like crazy for a bit for the fun of it. :p

Yeah I am pretty sure once that proxy is stopped being used that your ip address will be shown and could be possible to be frozen.

That's a big maybe. There is absolutely no way of knowing unless you look at their actual code, or talk to a Neopets programmer. First, it's possible that might not even work, I don't know. Second, if Neopets only logs the IP address of logins, then you're fine. But if it logs the IP address of every page view, then yes, they'll know your real IP. So I wouldn't do it just because we can't be sure.

That's not how to do it :p. I believe your IP address is assigned by your ISP. I also believe that you can request to have your IP address changed, though I can't say for sure, I've never needed to have that done.

changing your computers IP using cmd wont do anything but prob take you off the home network. ipconfig is just a comand to show you the computers inside address, the one you want to change is the outside one but the isp's handle that one.

you can get it changed but you have to have a good reason, i dont think being banned on neo is going to make them change it.

Ohh, alright, thanks to everyone who's commented so far for the clarification.

And actually, I'm not banned on Neo, I haven't even had an account frozen for 2+ months. :p I just want to know that I can have my IP reset if/when I need to, and depending on the ease wanting to sometime since my old main that was frozen was on this IP.

Well, there's no harm in asking your ISP how hard it is to have that done -- most likely there's a FAQ somewhere, or you can call the drones. They'd probably know better than any of us ;).

Just give your ISP a call, make up a story about a security breach or something and ask them to change your IP. 95% of the time they'll agree with no questions asked.

Ummm actually, unless something has very recently changed...
Your IP is only logged by neopets when you LOG IN. After that they dont know your IP. Thats what Ive been told for years now.

That may be the case, but do you really want to risk it? I'd like some definate proof before I'd even try it, better safe than sorry.

Hell, it beats saying "I got banned from neopets, change my IP".
