By 'huge' I don't mean size, lol! I mean price. Say, I want to sell an item for 50m pure. How do I go about doing this? From what I know, the maximum starting price you can put an item up for auction for is 10m, and the minimum increment for an item cannot be more than its starting price, which means that, if only one person bids, the most he can bid is 20m. So, if I want to sell an item for 50m, does it mean that I (or the buyer) has to find someone else with 40m, then get them to bid first (i.e. 20m, 30m, 40m, 50m)? Gee, that would be really troublesome if so D: lol, Not looking to buy / sell anything of that value... haha. Just thinking about it... in case I need to do so in the future, hehheh :X
Usually, people will get someone they trust. If you are buying something for 50m, you bid 10m, a friend bids 20m, you bid 30m, friend bids 40m, you bid 50m. In this example, to buy a 50m item, you would need 90m and a friend with 70m. For people that don't have tons extra, the common method of buying is multiple auctions. This involves a degree of trust, but one that lots of people have, out of necessity. They would put up five auctions for 10m each, you'd bid once on each, and then they'd send the item to you through gifting (or have one of the five be the item). The final way is ETS. Three Krawk TPs, worth a little over 16mil each, would be 48mil. Three Krawk TPs and three baby paint brushes is nearly 50mil. You will always end up losing a couple mil this way, but it is a very safe means of getting your item.
Junk auctions is the most accepted/common way. If you really don't trust your buyer, you'd have to go with ets
^ Ehh, don't you just need 50m and your friend, 40m? Since the number of times you bid on a particular auction doesn't matter; it just considers your highest bid and not an accumulation of bids? o.o And anyway, hmm alright, think trust is really important here, heh. Thanks for the information!
I didn't even know there was a limit on Auctions lol I'm glad I found out before I screwed myself over!! (if the time ever comes when I actually own an item worth that much XD)
oh god. i didn't know about the more than 10 million thing lol.. luckily i came upon this.. IMO, yeah, when u r buying/selling smth worth 50m, u wouldn't really wanna scam the other user coz there is a high risk of getting iced..so the easiest way IMO, (quoted from Richy), put up 5 10mil auctions then the seller gift the item to the buyer..
Teehee yeah, about the 10m thing. That's why we don't see any auction lots stretching the page because of the long stretch of digits in its price xD Good point about the 'wouldn't really wanna scam the other user', now that I think about it... hehheh kind of puts my mind at ease more. Well, if I ever need to buy / sell an item of that value, that is... ;o
yeah i hear that..does anyome remember when thet moehog skull went through auctions? i think it sold for something silly like 45m, that was just before i found out what a moehog skull was and i was soooo jealous..
I heard that getting someone to help you price up an auction wasn't allowed on neo. Not that I think anyone here cares, but I wonder about how the legit players sell their items. You could put in the trades and get people to pay in draik eggs and other ets and then auction those, I guess.
The way I have seen it done is the seller will put it on NF only, and put it at the max starting/inc, which would get them 20m, then set up two more auctions, one for another 20m, one for 10m, and the buyer will bid on all three. The only downfall with this is obviously, if the buyer wants to be a butthole, they can just bid on the item worth 50m, for 20m and not nid on the other items. So most times people only buy high priced items from trustworthy sellers.
Personally I would just rather take ETS. If they have the pure, they shouldn't object to buying a few ETS and offering them. Much simpler and safer.
You can sell in increments or, yes, get another account to bid. Solve the issue of a possible scam via a middleman.
Yea, I never really understood why they have a limit on the auctions, when they have items worth hundreds of millions of neopoints. Wonder what would make them do something like that?
