quick question about cel phones

    U currently have at&t as my service provider but o resell want a g1 sine I can probably get one for cheap with the new G2 coming out so if I wanna unlock it for my sim card do I talk to T-Mobile or at&t to get the code?

    i think you have to go to one of those little kiosks in malls to get them unlocked.. i dont think cell phone providers unlock phoness

    You can buy unlock codes online. Also, providers can unlock them for you. Verizon will if you've been a customer for... four months or something.

    I always thought unlocking and debranding/jailbreak was illegal and that providers won't do it for you xD
    I only buy asian phones so it's always unlocked and debranded for me.
    No harm in trying though, the worst answer you'll get is a "no".

    If you give them a BS reason to unlock it, like overseas travel, they will unlock it (well, most will).
