So today we had a meet and it was an invitational so it was supposed to be varsity only, just the thing is schools lied about their entries for their vaulters. For an invitational the minimum height that you have to jump to be allowed to enter is 10 feet and there were more than half the vaulters there who couldn't even jump 8 feet. This caused the bar to start at like 10 feet which is extremely high for a highschool meet, even varsity. But all these kids who couldn't even jump 8 feet when they would go make an attempt at 10 feet they couldn't even kick the bar. Now normally you can kick a bar that is a good 2-2 1/2 feet over the highest height you can clear depending on how good your form is and the fact that these people couldn't even kick the bar at 10 feet means that their best wasn't even good enough to be considered in a JV meet. So anyway having all these bad people competing in our varisty meet caused me to no height(not even make the first bar) because my best is 10 feet and i usually make it if i get to start at 9 feet, and what really bugs me is that i'm now grouped with all those kids who can't even jump eight because to the officials a no height at 10 is the same whether you were over it and pole knocked the bar off 3 times or not. I really wanted to kill the coaches who entered the kids who couldn't even make 8 feet because they were the reason the bar started so high. There were 40 vaulters so to get rid of more than half of them they had to start the bar way up at 10 which really frustrates me because i'm starting to get fairly decent form and if i can go to a meet where i can start at 9 feet and gain some momentum and get myself used to a bar before i go and attempt my personal best i really think i can get my best up to 11 feet, but NO coaches keep entering kids who shouldn't be vaulting at all. No joke there were kids who were holding so low on their poles that the top end of the poles was scraping along the ground as they ran... if they weren't competing i really think i could've gotten really close to placing in a varsity meet and that's like my one main goal right now because i've gone two years of xc and track and i've not once medaled, in xc i came really close though they medaled the top 45 in a race and i was 46, i was pissed to because a kid cut in front of me in line before they took our places so i should've medaled, but i really wanna medal in track and if i can't start jumping 11 by friday this week i'm not gonna have much more of a chance because theres a lot of good vaulters in my grade level they just happen to all go to different schools, but if i can catch up to them i think i can pull ahead... /rant just thought you guys might like to know all about my track life xD lol it was just really bugging me because i know i can make 11 cuz my form is getting to be pretty good and i just need to be able to gain some momentum before i get up to the higher heights xD
