Welllllll, Ive cleared out my room, repainted it dark blue color cleaned my shelves and closet. I went out and bought a full sized bed, and a large antique desk rug and ottoman. and moved a sofa into my room. I now have about 7ft by 5ft left in btw the desk bed and sofa for all other stuff, and a crap load of room in my closet/shelves. Im lookin for suggestions on what to put in my room cuz its lookin nice and I wanna trick it out. So far, ive bought blacklights http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... :IT&ih=022 to but into 2/6 lights and am looking into a big stereo system for the corners btw the bed/desk and bed/sofa. Besides that, Im open for sweet suggestions like i dunno a board and blacklight markers or a robot vacuum, u get the point
I had blacklights a few years ago. First of all, they get extremely heat extremely fast. So you won't be able to keep them on for long unless you want the temperature in the room to be above the 100's. And why have blacklights anyway? It really just looks dorky. The only reason I could see someone have blacklights was if they had made neat UV-paintings on the walls that aren't visible unless you ahve the blacklight on. And last of all, what kind of style do you want the room to be? If you could get a picture of how your room is now, it would be easy to help you with finding neat furniture and details.
I entertain alot in my room and writing on my whiteboard with blacklight is awesome, also i keep my room very cold so it shudent be a problem... Im thinking more of just stuff that would be cool with a bunch of people in my room... Im looking into a small winerack for my small liquor collection lol and maybe even a small fridge, but just anything uve ever seen and been like WOW that wud be sick in my room, Im just gonna compile a huge list and then check out prices and you know all that stuff
I'm still not getting what you're looking for. Are you talking about making a "party room" wtih strobes and stuff? Or are you looking for neat little things that can be used both as nice details and have functionality? If you could post your plan drawing or even just a rough sketch of it, and maybe a few pictures of your room, then it would be easier to come up with ideas. I love home design, and when I see a room I just go nuts and see oppertunites where you could put what where for it to take the least space possible and stuff like that. So again, it would be great if some pictures were posted.
i think you should paint a big sloth picture on one of your walls, and show him blowing up TNT, or something just a suggestion
awesome, then ur exactly who I need to talk to... Umm I'm looking for both, cept strobe lights are pushing it a bit.. Just stuff with functionality for like 6 ppl in my room hanging out to be awesome ore fun... my rooms a danger area now so Ill make the best sketch I can out of letters : __________________________________________ l l l l l l l________ l l l l l l l l l l l l rug l SOFA l l l l l l DESK l l l l________ l ____________________ l________ l l l l l l l l l l Speakers l BED l Speakers l l l l l l l l l l__________l_____________________l__________l Of course this is crap, but hopefully it shows u enuf so u can think of something to do..... Ther will be more room in the speaker areas cuz thats a decent bit of room and the speakers arent huge Let me know wat u come up with
Aww crap! It got messed up w/e its a box with the three pieces of furniture positioned around the room
I can come to your house with like UV spraypaint or some shit and like do a sick piece or throwie on your wall that says adam and like you could pay me $50 and yea...
Lol my mom would kill me. My room has to be really nice.. cuz of like the antique furniture n stuff etc and the new paint,... its gonna be a ballin hangout, but it still has to look all fancy
minifridge is a must. tv stereo system mirrors on the walls- just looks cool matted photos umumumum i'll think of more stuff later.
If you could make like a small plan drawing in paint with the colours of the rug, desk, walls etc., that would be probably be sufficent. And like how big the room is. Would you be able to build some of the things yourself? If so, to what extent? Small wooden boxes, bigger structures with lamps and stuff, etc.? Building and painting some things will reduce costs and add a personal touch but it's also a bit harder. And last but not least; what is your budget? And Phee, are you talking about like one or two mirrors or do you mean like several big mirrors put together to create one big mirror?
My budget duzent really exist, but ive got like 3.1k in my paypal, im reserving 750$ for a nokia n96, so i guess that leaves like 2.3k for my room? im thinking 350 on stereos and then weve got like 2k for everything else, aaaaand thats where u guys come in... Yea, Also I need stuff for the walls, i used to have 100 keys hung up in my room and now have 100 nail holes :/ so i need to cover that fasho
good luck finding stuff for your room adam a tip for anyone who wants to see what adam's room looks like, quote his message (but you don't have to post it) and it's formatted correctly
I HAVE PICS: This would be a horrible picture of my desk: This would be a picture of my bed premattress This would be my bed and my boxers under the installed blacklights: This would be me looking like an idiot, taking a picture of my mirror before I bought it: (as u can see, my fone takes awesome pictures in certain lighting, but in small rooms, the pics are typically grainy and suckish Yes, My phone took this pictures and I accidentally burned 5 checkmark shaped dots into my lens with a 300 milliwatt high powered laser. if you were wondering wat those were. I added the mirror behind the bed and got a nicer looking dry erase board.. i put a 3 person sofa next to my bed and a cool table with a lamp. I also rigged a sick 300 watt stereo system throughout my room with a spot hidden box in my closet where u put the MP3 playr ur using plugged in. The bed is 1880 France, the desk is 1890 england and the mirror is 1910 USA.. The sofa is 1980 USA lol not antique and the table and speakers are Costco 2008 :maha: . Ontop of my desk u can make out a cool fancy rotary dial fone from probably the 40s, a radio from 1942, a classic underwood typewriter from 1928 and behind a set of polish keys ranging from 1900s to 1700s. (Im a big on antiques guy) as u might have noticed by me in an antique shop taking pictures of potential purchases. Thanks for all ur awesome suggestions guys!
Sorry man, I had totally forgotten about this thread. The antique furniture is awesome, I would make all the lamps and modern things you might have in your room steampunk-ish.Maybe things like old tin boxes for chords so you don't get the tangle and at the same time keep the timelessness..ness...nesses.. of the room intact. I'd also put some old metal "bars" thingy, like in this episode of DIY on threadbangers under the current bookshelves, if you don't want to make new ones. I think that would make the atmosphere of the room even more oldish. I'd also look around for old globes with an antique look. Even if they might not be in the best shape, you could easily add some electronics inside of it and make it a mood light or even a whole lasershow (popping off the top shouldn't be too hard). You got good taste, Adam.
Ahh I love threadbangers! If I were you I'd wallpaper the room in navy or dark royal blue and silver-grey vertical stripes about 1.5-2 ft wide. Or a dark red.
