So my neice has a DVD, its underdog. the 2007 released kids movie about some dog with powers.

Unfortunately its region based and does not work on all DVD players. Apart from buying a new player.. I want to fix it.

I tried downloading a copy from a website, in hope that it would work. Sadly, could not find any good torrents that downloaded, or any that were good quality. (surprisingly, since its old).

My next step, is burn the DVD and ensure it gets burnt region free. However, I don't have any burning software on my computer since upgrading to windows 7 because DVDShrink and my nero don't work together anymore :( (stupid compatibility issues).

Can you suggest a good burn program, preferably free, that allows you to burn and remove region specific rules. (or a torrent :p)

What you're trying to do is illegal and I'm going to have to report your post.

But if hypothetically one wanted to pursue this I would tell them to download Handbrake in order to rip the DVD onto their hard drive. I would also advise him/her to have VLC installed, as it allows Handbrake to read any protected content on the disk. From there the movie can either be watched on the computer using VLC or converted to the proper format using DVD Flick and then having the output files (the video_ts and audio_ts folders) burned directly to a disk using ImgBurn. Either use the write folders to disk option or use it to create an iso file that will be burned. Just make sure that video_ts and audio_ts end up on the root directory of the disk.

Might sound a little complicated but that will get the job done with no expensive commercial software or bullshit ad ridden shareware. I can attest to all the programs except for DVD Flick which I've never used specifically, but they are legit and are actually incredibly useful for this and other jobs as well.

    Damn I'm helpful.

Yay for my first post in like 2 years?

It's not illegal to make a back-up of a DVD you've purchased. So I shall put this knowledge to good use, and this thread to bed.
