They keep making the DUMBEST moves. The management really needs to go. Soriano, who has an electric arm, for Ho-Ram, who has a history of being injured? They also signed Jose Guillen, who has a history of injuries. The latest deal...also involving injuries. Jose Vidro had hamstring problems all of last year, and we gave up top prospect talent that has proved he can be a major leauge hitter for it? Do we LIKE injured players? Is it just me, or is the management TRYING to make the team worse? Honestly, I think it was smart for Schmidt not to come to the team, he knew that he would not be a contender. come back after basavi, lincoln, and armstrong are all fired, buddy, because we wont be able to win with them making these retarded moves.
Well the Guillen signing was ok though not great. 5.5 mil in this market for 30HR-100RBI guy when healthy isn't too bad. The HoRam trade wasn't as one-sided as you think. Soriano has a history of injuries and HoRam is a serviceable starter, w/ a ceiling as a #3 starter. The Vidro trade is bad, I agree. Mariners don't need more old players.
The Guillen wasn't horrible, but you still can't say 30 hr 100 rbi, I beleive he only did 30 homers once, if even. He's a mid 20s homer kind of guy. Soriano could have given us 6 innings a game, and done better than HoRam.
I'm not sure that Soriano would have given you 6 innings a game, since he was a setup man last year, but at least HoRam is only 27 years old and still have room to improve. If I was a Mariners fan, I would hope that Vidro doesn't pass the physical. Not only would you get the aging player but you would have pick up $12 mil of his salary. Ouch.
Well it looks like that the Mariners saw Soriano better off relieving than staying in the starter role. Personally. I thought the deal wasn't as one-sided as others think. I've talked to several Braves and Mariners fans and some were like "ehh" on the trade.
Because Soriano isn't a big name...yet I saw many games he pitched in '03, right before he injured himself. He has GREAT stuff, and he showed it this season, too.
Now I see why you're not too happy about this. Well, hopefully King Felix will make it up by giving you 180Ks and posts a sub-3.5 ERA like he did in 2005 next year.
soriano is amzing...he is very fast, AN can hit it out of the park 40 times a season. and you shouldn't complain about signing those other guys for like 5.5 million the blue jays signed vernon wells for 18 milliona year(126 million for 7 years) and personally i think hes worth 10 million max a year *edit oops its the pitcher soriano...i thought it was alfonso soriano
The move with Batista might actually work out to their favor...! they didn't spend much.., compared to what all the other fools got this year
