I want to know what you guys think

Here is an article if you don't know the story

    http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/law/08/27/mi ... index.html

this man was involved in Dog Fighting. The dogs that weren't good enough... he killed them.

He single handedly killed 5 dogs himself. He Hung them... 3 of the 5 actually survived the hanging... so he drowned them.

The fact that he apologizes sickens me.

He makes millions of dollars a year. And he does something stupid like this.

I do not think he should be allowed to continue his career. I think he should work minimun wage at an animal shelter cleaning up dog crap.

I believe he need jail time. I am tired of BIG NAME people just losing there job and not paying for it. Priest got away with a lot of things. So do police. I cannot stand the whole double standard thing. A example should be made out of him because I am sure many people either did or still do admire him. It saddened me that a supporter of him said that dog fighting was sport. Last time I checked sports aren't for killing your oppenent and plus in many places it is illegal. I think that they should put him in jail for a LONG TIME because he could actually kill a living creature. That is a sure sign of some sort of mental disturbance because if you can kill a dog then you probably would have no problem moving to bigger things. The media needs to find a way to make dog fighting look horrible and to not put all the emphasis on the fact that he is a foot ball player. They need to let it be know that dog fighting in general is a crime that anyone can go to jail for. He should not have a football career or be allowed anywhere near dogs and neither should the other people who were involved in the fight.

Definitely not. The NFL shouldn't support somebody who is engaged in something so cruel and barbaric as dogfighting. Considering that many NFL players are role models, do you really want kids to look at Michael Vick and follow his example?

    I second what kitty said.

Also, I think they should take the millions they took AWAY from him (applaud to that) and put it towards punishing and putting these type of people away.

    What a sicko.
I say kick him from NFL and from all sports.
I would not want to hire him to pick up my garbage.
And I would slam his arse into jail for 5 years but no they have to reduce his case because he has money.
People like that need to get a feeling of what he was doing to those losing dogs.
    It's disgusting and inhumane.
Sorry for the ranting but damn, that's just sick.

Jail Time! It's a criminal offense and should be punished and there is no excuse for it not to be. Celebrities are now getting jail time more than ever and this crime needs to be paid for.

    That's disgusting.

I really think this man deserves a harsh punishment, but to be totally fair, this has nothing to do with his job.

I agree, but, in today's society, there's more to than playing football when it comes to the NFL. You're a money making machine, an icon, a role model, this.. and that.. So, in the end with all the other underlying factors, it's really from a business point of view whether or not he should stay.

I agree everything is about money but a lot of people must be pissed off about this and maybe the NFL might not be able to support him. They want him to keep playing but they don't want bad publicity and so on and so forth.
Money is everything to them and he will try to buy himself out of this situation.

If Michael is able to redeem himself (and he did take that small step on Monday, at a press conference, when he apologized for his actions) such as doing community and charity work, as well as become a representative against animal cruelty, he MAY have a slim chance of playing in the NFL again.

That's absolutely sickening....I didn't know he actually killed dogs, too.

I agree with kittymeow... all these people do stupid things that deserve way more severe of punishments than they get. Paris Hilton gets a month in jail, Lindsay Lohan gets a day, Nicole Richie gets 2 hours... it doesn't make any sense. Just because these people are famous, they're exempt from serving fair jail time? It's not right at all. Michael Vick should certainly be given jail time, AND be fired from the NFL. Something like what he did is inexcusable. It's disgusting.

well, now that i think of it, he should be fired, i mean, that is ilegal and its not right... so either he should be fined ALOT of money and put in jail, or be fired.

Well, he definitely wouldn't be popular if he returned to his NFL career, and maybe he would get tackled extra hard.
He doesn't deserve to go back to playing professionally, but if he is truly remorseful and has done the punishment that has been set out for him, he should be given a second chance. But most people would probably think, if a person was capable of doing those things in the first place, would he truly be sorry? Or is he just saying it for the public?

I think they should be more aware that they are looked up to as role models. For example, Ben Cousins, an AFL former Captain for the West Coast Eagles (Australian football. aka not soccer) was doing drugs, and was caught. Now, I wonder how many aspiring football players were disappointed to see him do that? But he went to a rehab clinic, and is now back to playing, minus the captaincy.

i dont think he should be given a second chance, unless of course he goes out onto the football field with over 1,000,000 people watching, he admits what he done was wrong and he accepts his fine or something.

That's just like a kid saying sorry.
He already apologized on TV and millions of people have seen it.
And yes he probably is doing it because of the publicity.
He does not want to be seen in humane and all that, even though he killed dogs for no reason and used them to fight each other.
He claimed that he only sponsored the events and didn't do it for profit?

he shouldnt be allowed to play.

many kids look up to NFL players, and you dont want someone to one day look up his role model and see an article like this. its just sick.

He definitely shouldn't be allowed to continue his career and I believe his behaviour warrants jail time. I hate it that he says he has "found Jesus." Why do all of them find Jesus? :nope: Anyways his cruel behaviour will be noted by all the people (younger kids especially) who looked up to him...
