So here's my idea of a singer singing live.
And here's my idea of an artist singing live.

In the musical world, there are singers, and performing artists. Sure they have certain talents, but not quite so vocally. Artists are made to look good, and so visually, they appeal to the masses. As for vocally, they can be altered to sound better. Fans are aware of the miming. Yet still they come for more.

Wait you say...It's nearly impossible to dance the way she does and still sing perfectly?
Well if I want to go to a live show, I'd expect it to come with a live voice too. Visually, I'm not as fussed about it.

Or maybe i'm just trying to plug my friend, who although has a different sound than Britney, sounds a whole lot better.

You know, I'd actually describe BS as a performer, not a performing artist. I don't consider her an artist in any way shape or form.

    Let's be friends.

I can't believe that I just got linked to her. :(
    I am sad.

But yeah, I agree completely that there is a difference between a singer and a performer. There are some people who can do both, but the difficult thing is to know who they are. And to be honest, there really aren't that many of them.
I guess that the thing to consider is what you want out of it - do you want a show, or do you want music? I don't consider BS to even be music, to be perfectly honest. She has none of the qualities that I seek in a musician. She knows how to work a crowd and has some great people with spectacular voice-editing skills behind her.Which I have nothing against, I suppose. There are people who enjoy that sort of thing.
