    Charge!
Haven't you all seen the light?
    Neopets is going into hell!
    God damn, must you realize?
    "Sponser links".
    SPONSER.
We are being thrown into a addicting game of advertisment! Remember the old days? A tiny banner on top? Nothing else, just a good little banner. But now, more down time, unfair freezings, and look!
    A new PS2 game!
Why don't we try and fix our site from downtime, get some good workers, and maybe finally finish that neoschool?
No. We need to make another 10 million dollar advertisment campaign so we can be richers! Sure there's been a 25% decrease in page speed, sure down time is higher than ever before, but we need the money.
    MONNNNEYYYYY!
That's it, neopets is going down the drain because they are getting to damn greedy.

So act with me, if not now when.
We must destroy them in any way we can, meet our needs, or face the Hackers, the programers, the hobos.

    Charge!

On an aside, I always get freaked out when I see Neopets plushies IRL. I still have this nostalgic image of Neopets before it became commercialized & transplanted itself into the real world.

EDIT: Yes still. I'm overseas so Neopets crap is nonexistant.

More money means that neopets can grow bigger.

I wasnt online 1 year ago, from when I remember the place it was all html (no flash crap), there was about half the cities (?) to explore, no trading cards, no red codestones, no petpets, a different game layout (and less games) and just less content in general.

I don't know if its better, but its without a doubt bigger...

There's not much you can do to effect change, and bringing Neopets down isn't going to change them.

The only way they will change is if the userbase deserts them, then they'll react if fewer and fewer people go on.

Not like that'll happen very soon... they've addicted a ton of people.

corrykid: get yourself FireFox2 with adblock... and then you won't have to see the ad's.

I don't think anyone can really knock them for what they've done. They are a BUSINESS at the end of the day. Of course they want to make money. Unless you are going to be a charity volunteer for the rest of your life and never get paid for anything, you really can't criticise. I know if I owned the site, I'd want to make as much from it as I could too. And I disagree with there being more downtime. I think there's far less than there used to be.

To cut this short, making money is the way of the world, not just the Neopets site.

Wouldn't they have to stop growing soon because they will eventually grow old. Like pokemon ya know?

I don't think so. Neopets is a different kind of thing. It's interactive and often changing and there's always new users coming onto the site. I don't think websites have the same longevity problems as TV shows, etc as they have far more to hold people's interests.

I think neopets would be better if there were less people. Then atleast there would be less scammers. I remember back in 2001, I never had more than 200k and I was an avatar collecter and someone lent me tiki armour. Everyone was so trusting, it was easy to make friends, and the AC was a respectable place becauses all the idiots went to General Chat. I miss those days. Now it seems all people want to do is flame eachother and show off their wonderful items for a false sense of fame. Everyone wants to be "famous" on neopets. Which is stupid because all it does is bring beggars and people who just want you for your items.

Totally agree... perhaps they should follow the lesson: "less is more".

All the flash on the site is making it so slow and confusing...

hmmm come to think of it... do you think we'll be saying the same thing 5 years from now about todays NeoPets?

It'd be really sad to be in Neo after so many years o_o People should at least get a life.. I'm planning to give my accounts to my little sister when she learns enough English :3

I remember being frozen 3-4 years ago. Back then TNT didn't tell you the reason of freezing XP But otherwise I agree, Neopets becoming so business-like really spoils a lot.
