I was thinking of making an icon to use for NF, and started messing around in PSP. I don't like it too much, it didn't turn out the way I had imagined. I might just scrap it altogether. The more I look at it, the less I like it. Suggestions? Improvements? New ideas? Much appreciated.
I like the colors. Can you make the item not be in the "pop box thingy". Keep the green background, the colors complement each other. Try putting it in a box like this [ ], black outlines like that and the image might balance itself with those black lines on the item. I hope I was helpful and understand of what I was saying.
Thanks VERY much for all your help The original image had lines too thin for my liking, so I traced over them manually with I think it was a 3px brush. That's why it seems blurry- I blurred over my traced lines, to make them less choppy, but the not the inside. I think the original skeem potion itself had a bit of blur on the inside, and I probably added a bit too much to that. And yes, I did use PSP, or Paint Shop Pro (9). The outline is a little rough, but that's because it's on a transparent background. The inside edge, as you can see, is much smoother. I'll try and mess around some more, fix it up a bit now.
If you retrace it do it at a high zoom and it won't come out so choppy and then you won't have to blur it.
Either get a bigger picture (the bottle or whatever it is) or make that one smaller because with the blurry-ness I can't really see what the picture is supposed to be (I'm guessing some kind of glass bottle with copper 'earrings'?). Practice makes perfect =)
Makes sense given your name. I'm actually looking to buy a tablet, would you recommend any as particularly good (and cheap)?
Medion tablets are great and pretty cheap too. I got a new one off Ebay for about 85 bucks, I think. It was 9x12! They're great, but the only reason they're not more popular is because the tablets aren't sold in the US, only Europe. Ebay is your best bet to getting your hands on one- otherwise, you're pretty much stuck with Wacom. They're great, but SO expensive! A 9 by 12 is over 300 bucks, last time I checked. The price might have gone down, I got my tablet about a year or two ago.
