Okay not that bad.. But I'm pissed off.

I have found that when using Sony Vegas Pro 10.0 that my computer runs really slow, and for some strange reason it has a lag type affect when trying to render video's. Obviously, not what I want.

Also noticed that my computer was running at 90 to 100% of its physical memory while doing this.

I figured my computer is 4 years old, has built up a ton of crap etc.. Time to reformat it.

So I did. AND FRESHLY FORMATTED IT RUNS AT 40-50%!! That's without any extra programs.

How the hell can my computer run off 2gb of ram just to run?!

Apart from buying a new computer (which I want to do eventually... a desktop this time), anything I can do to speed it up.

Yea because I've only just reformatted it, I'm in the process of doing the windows updates, which will include the new service pack. Can't go without the new service pack because without it, sony vegas won't work.

What is your graphics processor? I'm assuming this is a mainstream HP...most of them come with an integrated graphics card with the motherboard which shares some of its video memory with your RAM. If it is a graphically demanding application or if it handles your memory very inefficiently, this can cause a bit of a problem. So if you are doing a lot of PhotoShop, video editing, etc., try a dedicated graphics card (might be more expensive). XD

But as for cleaning out the computer, try CCleaner. In CCleaner, it runs a quick cleanup of your browsing data, Windows cache. You can also manage the programs that run on startup (msconfig), fixes your registry, and your installed programs. Really is helpful :)

Or if you don't want to install that, try msconfig in your Start Search and click Selective Startup. There, in the other tabs, you can select what programs to run at startup. Also, last thing, try Defrag Tool under the Properties of your C: drive :).

PS: be sure to make a vid for NF.net ;)

Haha.. It's reformatted now so the extra programs won't help.

As for graphics card, When I got the laptop I asked for a dedicated graphics card... And thats what I THOUGHT it had in it...

    However, I just checked...

I never actually bothered to check until you mentioned it.. I feel cheated T_T

So you just wiped everything? Laptops that have good battery life rarely have dedicated graphics cards because they tend to drain more battery because they are, well, better and they require more additional cooling. So, it's give/take, but I still prefer desktops and just a side cheaper laptop or the new Android tablets with Honeycomb look attractive (still waiting for something better than the Xoom though) for traveling :D.

Oh, but I just keep CCleaner and run it once every two weeks or so (depending on laziness level) and it keeps most of my browsing files in check, which is usually Neofriends cache anyways XD

my battery is rooted :p Won't even fully charge anymore. That'll teach me to leave it plugged in 24/7 and use it like a desktop.

Currently TRYING to reinstall the damn service packs but its proving quite difficult. Error after error after error.

lol my laptop has an ATI Radeon HD 5850 lololol

it also depends how many effects you use when you render your videos. Too many will use up your Video Card memory and slow everything down.

I only go for colour corector, sharpen...

If I want to chop a video up and add these affects it then cracks a shit at me.. If its just a full video with maybe the ends chopped off it works...

At the moment I can't use anything.

Installing windows 7 later this week, hopefully that'll fix my problems.
