Recently, many big accounts have been hacked, like sweethoney27, and many many more (and this is just from me observing BDC)

So according to them, it's not a CGer as their sides were compromised too. The hackers break into the acounts and even create boards to sell their items, some even saying they are the original owner

Of course, TNT froze for protection pretty quickly.

Apparently these hackers attack the email addresses and use the forget my PW function, as someone had their FB account hacked too

These hackers are dangerous and not ethical

wow, that's some heavy hacking. it's starting to seem like a good idea to not use the same password for everything now

i wonder how they do it though..

befriend the users on neopets then slowly get to know them more n more or do they just find their email and send them emails to try and hack their computer..

Actually, there are people out there that sell lists
This lists contain usernames and encrypted passwords, they just decrypt the passwords

Some people make excellent money by doing this
And frankly, the people purchasing them make excellent money

Apparently these lists can access accounts that haven't been active for years, as well as more recent ones O.O

^ I've heard of those, but the only problem with them is cracking the pin in some cases.

I'm just concerned about my own account at the moment. :]

If you use different passwords for Neo and your email, you should be safe right?

    okay, ya'll
the best way to be safe is to keep a pin on your account (from my readings)
these lists are NOT gained nightly, more like bi-weekly, but they are sold nightly
a different password on your email and neo account does help safety!

there are actually hash cracking sites, which makes this hacking more available to the general public, which puts everyone at risk... however, people tend to avoid hacking active accounts, because they know that doing so is more likely to result in the user reporting it to TNT (if you notice money missing, a pet missing, etc)

so I'd recommend going on your daily lives, and don't be afraid to report to TNT if you are missing something!

Pin your stuff where possible. Right now there's this person on the BDC who had his main account hacked into, and he's just sitting on his side watching his account being accessed (really scary ><). He knows its being accessed because his friends saw him online via the stalkerbar while he was away on vacation, and now that he's back, he can probably 'see himself go online' via his side account (he probably neofriended his side account). But thankfully he pinned everything so now the hacker's probably trying to crack the pin.

If only TNT would just freeze his main for his protection already =/
