It seems some scientist are trying to re-create the Big Bang moment and some other people are worried that black holes are going to engulf the planet.

The experiment is made in Europe near Geneva, 98 metres underground near the border.

They said in the next 2 days if nothing happens then we're safe for now :maha:

It's all over the news here, in an interview one guy said the end of the world is about as likely as a flying saucer landing on top of the loch ness monster xD.

To be honest, if we do get engulfed in a black hole we're not going to know about it B)

Oh, both my high school and university physics' teachers has worked in the CERN, the Geneva atomic particle accelerator :yup:
I know about this and other kind of experiments... my English is not good enough to explain them like I'd explain them in my mothertongue... but well, I can at least say that some of them are pretty unbelievable!
One of the most important things they're trying to do, and I think is the one you're talking about is the research of the so-called "God's particle" (also called Higg's boson). I've just read that they're going to begin experiments about it and trying to verify its existence tomorrow, with the ingnition of the Large Hadron Collider! :funky:
Dunno what will happen... but it's a very controlled place =P

Wouldn't the world just start like breaking up?

I don't think It would happen all at once.

Breaking up? Uhm, I don't think so. When a black hole is big enough to engulf a planet, the planet disappears all at once =3 (or at least so quickly that you even don't realize it).
You know, the more a black hole 'eats', the more a black hole is able to 'eat' =P

If by breaking up you mean instantly being sucked into a hole smaller than a pinpoint then ya.

Black Holes can also engulf time so we would probably see the black hole coming towards us and can't move or something :p

If that was the case our eyesight would also be affected by time, so we'd still be experiencing time moving normally. Perhaps an outside observer would look at us not moving.

But what will happen if 2 black holes are intersecting each other? OR what are the theories of those so called "white" holes?

I think some documentary with Sam Neill in it said that the 2 black holes would repel each other. Similar to spinning tops?
And theories of white holes? I don't know much about them. But...
    Bam
Uhh...the collision of the two particles are to simulate events that happened straight after the Big Bang. Which is not a bad thing. Yes, there is a slight possibility that a black hole may be created. And when I say slight, I say a very slight fraction off zero. It's not 50% that some people who are trying to pull the plug on it say.
It's meant to happen on the 10th, but where I am it's the 11th. I'm not too sure when it's going to happen, but if you're still safe by the end of the day, it should be all right.
And I wouldn't be too worried about it. Even if it were to happen, we would all go together. Pretty much within the span of a few minutes, maybe less. And that's the whole earth. So you yourself wouldn't be able to experience it. Isn't that a ... happy thought
