    If your talking about the seal hunt in Canada or any sort of seal hunt for that manner then I am strongly against it. I am for the rights of animals and find hunting them to be disgusting. Most hunters have strange reasons for hunting. They can't say that animals are overpopulating because many are endangered and humans are the ones with the large populus. It's likes they are looking for a reason to kill. Some might believe oh well maybe they are using them from something. I saw a video of the baby seal hunt in Canada and they just beat them to death and leave the babies to bleed to death. I cried for a long time after seeing that. It is as if their pain is a mockery. They just killed the babies and didn't even have a valid reason except for it is tradition. There is no valid reason in my opinion.

    Any type of seal hunting is barbaric and cruel. There is no need for it. And as Kittymeow pointed out, the majority of the seals are beaten up and then just left to die.

    At least other animals have a valid excuse for hunting. They do so to survive. We do not have this excuse.

    Agreed.. But imagine if we WEREN'T at the top of the food chain all of a sudden?

    Oh right, we really aren't. We have idiots swimming in shark infested waters and swimming by lakes with crocodiles/alligators in them and when they attack us, we cry about it..

    Wahh wahhh a shark just bit my leg off, we should kill it..
    You're lucky the shark didn't come out of the water and chase you with a bat and beat the crap out of you and THEN ripped your leg off with it's razor like teeth!

    I think people just hunt animals because it's illegal to hunt people. They are bullies.
    ~~~~~~~
    BUT, I do know that there ARE people out there who do use EVERY SINGLE PART of the animal they hunt, and that's a lot better than killing it just for the head for a trophy and what not.. if they kill one animal and it keeps them fed for God knows how long and they don't need to buy it from the store, than that's good, too, because the meat in the store probably came from a torture animal anyway.
    People should only hunt if they need to as in they need to eat and in their country or area thats the only way they will eat. Hunting for food when it is necessary I can't find fault with because then humans are just fitting into the food chain but when people hunt for "fun" or for no reason other than to kill I think it is ridiculous. Britain ban fox hunting is seal clubbing even illegal?
    PETA and others have been trying to stop the seal clubbing going on in Canada but I haven't heard any news of it stopping or even any progress. I signed up in my own way to peta and try to stay informed of these things.
    I can't stand PETA, but I hate the fact that there is rampant seal killings too. :\
    I just feel like PETA is full of truth-omitting hypocrites.
    Really? I was under the impression that there is thousands of people that have a job to do so in Newfoundland and other places.
    What do you mean theres no reason to kill them? Sure there is. Fur is a very sought after resource, as is there meat and even penis. I'm not saying I'm for this, because I most certainly am not; but what I'm not for is for uneducated people babbling on about the seal hunt and how it should be stopped when they actually know nothing. (this is not directed to you nopoint :p, lol) Sorry if I'm coming on strong, I just think people should educate themselves about this topic. I'm in no way arguing here, or trying to start a flame war. Its just a debate, alright guys? Haha. :lol:
    Most understand the people who NEED the seals for its resources but the Canadian seal beating is just a sport and is the major problem. They don't USE the seals but just kill them. I have a big problem with killing animals but I do accept if there is no other means for the person killing the seals to survive been when just killing to kill is done then I am very disturbed.
    Also, I heard something about PETA but I'm not sure what. Have they done something to animals? I haven't been keeping up with them but heard something about them doing wrong. What was it?
    I'm not for or against seal hunting, and the harp seal population is three times the size to what it was in the 70's. I'm mainly against those types of hunters who kill the seals inhumanely, so the seals feel a lot of pain before they die. You could use fake fur, but the production of that might do more harm because of the toxins released into the environment.
    I personally don't think it's that heinous to hunt, as long as the animal is killed humanely - meaning painlessly and quickly. Clubbing a seal to death is definitely NOT humane, however.
    Seal hunting is cruel. No matter how.
    I think that hunting animals is cruel anyway, but that's my opinion... Like some cows, they're just bought to produce more cows that have to produce more cows to get milk and to get slaughted. I think it's disgusting.
    Please do not gravedig. -L_scorpio
