    From today's news...

"We have some good news and some bad news, everyone! The good news is, we're finally going to be slowly releasing some old r101 stamps back into the economy. The bad news is, our shipment of stamps was lost in transit. Oh, it looks like Dr. Sloth has found an old crate of stamps though! What an odd coincidence. It seems he'll be auctioning a stamp off once a month in order to fund his plans for his 'Grundo Reeducation Center'! Isn't that nice of Sloth to educate Grundos? And here we thought he was entirely evil. Way to go, Dr. Sloth! "

The first stamp is currently in auctions -

How much is that stamp worth? Already up to 24M and there is more than a day left in the auction.

probably the stupidest idea ive ever seen

    the rich get richer...

stamp is worth around 400m, and the only people who will be able to afford it in auctions is already people who are rich

    I agree with R & F
What is the point of re-releasing in the form of an auction - only people that have hundreds of millions of NPs squirreled away will be able to get the stamps, so sucky deal for the rest of us poor hobos...well sucky for me anyways :/

Neopoint-sink maybe? (Idk how effective it'll be) Maybe they'll find other ways to release these stamps after this auction thing is done -- I doubt they'd only release 1 or 2 of each r101 stamp.

Edit: And I don't think the goal of this whole thing is so that everyone will be able to get one of these stamps.. that'd make it pretty crappy for those who payed 400m for them. I think they're just trying to a put a few more in circulation so more people have a chance to fill their albums.

its not a neopoint sink though...only the winner will lose the neopoints...everyone else gets them back

i fail to see why everyone keeps referring to this as a neopoint sink

    its just an auction

Oh I don't think that TNT has the intention of making the stamps readily available to all, but I mean at least give people something of a chance at getting a stamp avatar. Like sell them for a couple hundred NP in the stamp shop or something - like 1 or 2 every day
for people who are just starting with Neo it is virtually impossible to get stamp avatars...I personally don't stamp collect because I know there is no point to it because I will never have enough NP to fill a page to get the avatar.

I mean, regardless, it's still a neopoint sink; albeit, not a good one. However much it goes for, that amount of NPs is gonna disappear from the economy. Yeah, it kinda only affects one person but that 400m or whatever is no longer in circulation because the NP goes to "dr_sloth."

    WORST.IDEA.EVER...

The only thing that make me smile is that the buyer of this stamp will have a hard time reselling it.
I would be a better idea to make a lottery... 100K per ticket, max of 10 ticket per user.
Still not fair enough but better than auction.

I agree with all of the above. If you buy a stamp for 100 mil, who on earth is going to buy it for a profit?
At least with the lottery, someone on the poor-er end of the scale might be able to win such a prize >.<

anybody with 400 mil will buy it for a profit...

but ya tharoux idea was the best, ultimately if people could buy raffle tickets it would create a larger np sink than 1 person losing the nps

Whoever has the most pure would win which stinks for us neopians with nps stuck in items, but isn't there a limit to auctions of 30M or is this a special case with no limit?

its now gone over 90m..id love to see how high it goes..maybe the winner will be determined not by who bids in the last second but who reaches the auction cap lol..
Its not just gonna bring the prices down for these stamps though, some people are gonna be quickselling there Peas, Skulls, and legendary weaps just for a chance at winning the stamp..
if i have a few hundred mil id be taking this opportunity not to try and win the stamp but to try and get a cheap jhudoras wand..

Funny thing is that guy, pcdr, who has been bidding like crazy doesn't even want the stamp :p He's only bidding to ride up the cost for everyone else.
