I'm sure most of you already read the novel "To Kill A Mockingbird" written by Harper Lee. Now I have two days to write a short essay (~2 pages) about The Black Community in the novel. I want to divide my essay in 4 parts: 1. Calpurnia as a part of the Finch family - no prejudices but friendship and reliance - Cal as surrogate mother - opposition in Aunt Alexandra and the "usual" view of the blacks that time 2. church of the black people - differences and commonnesses (?) to the curch of the whites 3. prejudices of both sides - prejudices of the whites - prejudices of the blacks 4. the Tom Robinson case - black against white - no chances from the beginning on (prejudices) - although he is black he got a trial (to make the punishment legal) Well, thats what I'm going to write so far. Now my question: Did I miss something important or is there something incomprehensible for you? Thanks for the reponses in advance
Similarities* Look, the structure you have is absolutely fine. However, that being said, it's a tad bland and most examiners, or markers, look for essays that provide another angle, convey the message really fluently, leave them thinking, etc. So, with such a basic structure you need to aim to use the mechanics of the English language to make up for it, in a sense. But structure-wise and idea-wise, I'd say you're on the right track.
Usually with essay's you are arguing for something, or at least making a point, are you sure this is an essay? What are the exact parameters/outlines of this assignment?
Boo, then it goes more along the lines of assignment >.<. For most of the experience I had, it's either assignment, or somewhat persuasive/argumentative essay. In which case, if it is just expository then it's perfectly fine.
Well..the structure of the essay is perfectly fine, well divided and organised(points). However, as i have done this book during literature, i feel that a personal insight has to be provided. perhaps u would want to conisder adding your personal thoughts to the essay.Eg:I feel that the blacks were heavily discriminated in this book.Quote from book.Blacks have to give space to whites on a bus at that time. remember the context of the question. cheers
