Should transexuals get rights under gender discrimination laws.
I think they should still get rights considering that they are still a gender.
Now if they had no gender then I really don't know.

if only people didn't discriminate then there wouldn't be the need for rights...if they want to be transsexual, then it's their own choice and we should bother them about it...

The purpose of rights is to prevent someone from taking advantage of you. If they do they can be dealt with legally or by the law. If there were no rights then if a person doesn't like you then you can not enter their business or whatever they own and even if the reason is stupid it would still be allowed.

As far as I'm concerned, God made them.. so therefore, they are meant to break the border of gender. So maybe he's trying to teach people like you to loosen up.

ANY life form deserves respect and rights. From trees (no, I'm not a tree hugger) to animals, and to the more obvious, humans!

I hope you're not saying that they currently don't have those kind of rights.
Because if that's it, then you guys lived in messed up countries. Seriously.

    Where are you from?

This country is messed up on so many levels, in so many ways, that transexuals in some states CAN be discriminated against. Some states don't even have laws to ban people getting fired for being gay. It's ridiculous.

Sweden "the world's most modern country and the world's most insecure people".
At least we had a tv show named that :p

And that's plain out wrong, I'm shocked that I'm actually hearing this.
How the heck can a country that powerful remain that wrong?

It's because people are stubborn and refuse to change because they are too worried about themselves to think about anyone else.

I'm NOT anti-American but I really think this country has TOO many rights.

The freedom of speech is great but soooo many assholes use it as an excuse. Seriously.

"I hate black people. I'm using my freedom of speech"
"No you aren't you stupid ass. You're using it as an excuse."

The number one right should be RESPECT THOSE AROUND YOU!!

    Over here that's a crime.
We call it agitation against an ethnic group, and it's a very serious offense.
I really don't see how that can be allowed in the US, but you can't say the F word on TV or radio.

I think I remember talking to this girl I worked with from Sweden (she was here for the summer) and I told her something along the lines of.. "I don't think America should push their ideas on others. We should take others ideas IN!" Because she told me some stuff about Sweden (I don't remember exactly) and I remember thinking, "Wow.. I kinda want to move there."

That's a good attitude, don't live in America, live in the World =)
But we're not as good as it seems over here, mainly because we're suffering from tall poppies syndrome :p
So if you want to be succesfull, people will pretty much hate you :p

We all have things to learn from each other, every country has ideas that's great, and it's better to focus on global politics rather than just national. =)

haha, I love it when people say what they truely think. Although I dont agree with you, I aplaude your enthusiasm.

Gender discrimination laws do protect them, it doesnt matter if your a xx or xy or xyxyyxyxyxyx, the protection laws simply state that a person can no be discriminated upon the reasoning that the individuals gender is different from the oppressor.

I think it's funny how some religious followers can thank God for some of the things he made and yet, when it's not something they are comfortable with/haven't seen or experienced before, it's automatically against god.. when, according to the religion, God made everything so how is ANYTHING against him? lol

It's all double standards to me.

I'm looking in as a outsider because i am not religious, but I believe that they are masking there own fears behind their god. They
use their god as a excuse to get others on their side because they are lonely when alone, who is not? i guess some believe that how they feel is how their god feels and that is their right to feel but I think they forget who they are and end up saying that...well I lost my train of thought. Sorry....

In my opinion transexuals should have rights just like everyone else... I am not religious and this might be why I feel this way because even though I don't know much about transexuals I feel that your gender is not the MOST important part of you and you shouldn't be discriminated against for that, or on any other basis ..

That statement is ambiguous. Are you saying there are no transexuals here or are you saying there's no discrimination here?
