I was driving home from my girlfriends and i could literly barley keep my truck on the road. I was gonna go party but that turkey did me in. Does anyone know what the drug in it is called?

Well according to How Stuff Works it is called tryptophan. Here is their explanation:

"Turkey does have the makings of a natural sedative in it, an amino acid called tryptophan. Tryptophan is an essential amino acid, meaning that the body can't manufacture it. The body has to get tryptophan and other essential amino acids from food. Tryptophan helps the body produce the B-vitamin niacin, which, in turn, helps the body produce serotonin, a remarkable chemical that acts as a calming agent in the brain and plays a key role in sleep. So you might think that if you eat a lot of turkey, your body would produce more serotonin and you would feel calm and want a nap"

The thing that most people don't realize is that turkey has just as much tryptophan in it as most other meats (pork, chicken, beef, salmon, and all all have a comparable amount). The reason that people get so tired after a Thanksgiving meal is the fact that the rest of the food is usually heavy on the carbohydrates, which amplifies the effects of whatever tryptophan you ingest. Take a look at the wikipedia article on tryptophan for more information.

I got a real bad headache after dinner yesterday. I didn't feel so tired, though. Turkey is dangerous.

We should have all eaten crab legs :yup:
I was watching "Deadliest Catch" today, I think it was on the Discovery Chanel, and they were showing these fishermen who catch crab for a living. The men had a sort of commercial during the show explaining the benefits of eating crab legs instead of turkey. One reason being; it doesn't make you sleepy. Another reason given, and the best one I thought, was, " You can't imagine how f**king hard we had to work to catch them." :maha:
His mouth was bleeped out of course but it was funny as hell.
