It'll go up in price eventually..

    EVENTUALLY being the key word.

I invested in Cloud Racer Mechanic and Sophies Cookbook when they first came out - buying in at 20k a piece and 50k a piece respectively. They sat at 10k a piece for the next 6-12 months. Or longer. And then it was a really slow rise.

So I'd be careful. You'll be in it for the long haul, investing millions.

mmm, I dunno man if you did it as a short term investment and moved quick enough there was some nice profit to be had, I picked up quite a few at 110k-140k and there is a bloke now buying them up for 170k min quicksell, I just wish I could've picked up more earlier :( considering paying the higher price now, around 50k profit each atm you pick up 30 or so and thats a cool 1.5 mill right there

That isn't investing then. Investing is finding an item, and holding it for an extended period of time with the intent on selling it after the price has inflated as more and more leave the economy (from being read, frozen, etc).

What you are doing there is simply capitalizing on the item's volatility. I did the same with Y-blasters. Worked great for a couple weeks, then when people start cashing in their plot points the price plummeted over 48 hours and I was stuck with 25 of the bloody things!

I dont see why it would inflate. Many people can get it and so the supply of it seems unlimited for now

Many people could get it, but since the machine has been repaired, no more books. They don't restock. So there's now a limited supply.

True there is a bit of risk, I could just cash in now for a decent payday with practically no risk but the thing is I never do anything with my points anyway and eventually it will rise so probably will sit on them for now

The price only went off because of all the people who decide to invest- not true investors who do this to many items, but mostly AOTA board chatters who thought it was a good idea. It's false inflation.

It'll drop within a week, and as Will said, it'll slowly (but surely) rise. I bought 6, plus the one I got myself), for around 115k-120k a pop last night. If they double in price that's a nice 1m-ish; if not, I'm only losing 700k.

if its anything ive learn about investing in books over the years, it that unbuyable books make horrible, HORRRRRRIBLE short/mid term investments. They do though make decent long, LONG term investments if you're willing to wait it out that long. When I make investments, I like to pour millions into them, otherwise it won't be worth it. Unbuyable books are IMPOSSIBLY hard to sell without steep discounts. If you pour millions into it, you have to sell that many more books, making it not worth it at all. It's so much easier to buy books like tales of the esophagor which you can easily pour 5 mil into at 5k and just as easily unload them at 20k+ 1-3 years later. 9 out of 10 people dont buy expensive books to read anymore, they buy expensive books to hoard or keep as investments.

    1. No one cares about the book award anymore, its too hard to get.
    2. Why pay 1 mil for a book when you can get 300+ books for the same price and get 300x more int. from it
    3. This book does nothing that a 1np book wont do for your pet, its only useful if you need the book award. WAAAYYYY too many of these books out there compared to the # of people chasing, or will ever be chasing, the book award
    4. if these books are TOO "rare," there won't be enough on the TP a couple years from now to determine a "real" price, and itll be that much harder to get rid of them.

I'd just personally buy around 2m worth of these, and stash them until 5-10 years from now when everyone forgets about them and then dump them once per month for prolly 2m-5m each, like what im doing with the noil and doglefox colouring books.
