I'm proud to say that I'm a vegetarian and have been since January 5 2005. Are there any other veggies on here? (Please don't be dumb and post the typical "mmmm meat" stuff. It gets old. Fast.)
I was on the verge of becoming a vegetarian a while back, because the thought of bloody meat makes me sick. But.. then I thought about chicken and I just couldn't do it; I love me some chicken. So I guess I could become a chicken eating vegetarian, but I don't really know if there is such a thing.
Yeah, it's not full vegetarian obviously. A person who practices that would be considered a pollo-vegetarian. I'm thinking about going vegan... But... I love Ben and Jerry's, ranch dressing, and Velveta Mac'n'Cheese. Lol. Other than that I could totally do it!
Vegetarianism is total crap. You need some stuff in meat if you wanna have sharp senses and high perception. Our mind started evolving from the moment our monkey forms ate some meat (with the discovery of fire, we didn't liked raw meat anymore) and we become what we are today because of that. DOWN WITH THE VEGGIE! DOWN WITH THE VEGGIE!
How are we to take you seriously when you make a post like that? If you don't like the concept of vegetarianism or veganism, just post your arguments. There's no need to insult a whole community. I've been a vegan for several years now and before that I was a vegetarian for even longer. There is nothing that you need from meat that you can't get from vegtables and fruits. Otherwise I'd be dead by now. And you can't use the old "we have always eaten meat so we should continue to do it". Well we have raped and fought and waged war for as long as mankind has been around, but should we continue with that?
Do you take supplements for cobalamin? Because vegetables and fruits aren't great sources of it, unless they have been specifically fortified with it. If vegans aren't careful, they could suffer from B12 deficiency, but you looked pretty healthy in your photos.
I kinda like the idea of raising a child vegetarian, but I think it has to be a personal choice. Otherwise, you're kid may not understand the concept of vegetarianism fully. Ya know?
I was recently put on medicine for Anemia due to my lack of iron intake. Which is kind of odd, since looking at charts online... Veggies tend to be a larger source of iron than meat. But I've got an appointment on the 5th to see if I'm better.
I support those who are vegetarians, especially if you know the condition of slaughterhouses and such. I wouldn't be able to commit myself to becoming one, though.
Yeah i get your point. But here where i live i am brought up like that(like eating non-veg is like a sin). At least i am following one of Ghandiji's priciple!!!!!
i was vegetarian for about one month, but i stopped. i got sick of taking pills to substitute my nutrients, being a pain during bbqs, eating tofu and beans everyday for protein, and i missed meat! i wish i had the will power to eat salad at every restaurant i go to, but it's too hard.
i am not sure as i could become a veggy i love my roast meals that i have very sunday is the way the animals are treated, or tht they die young? or anything like tht?? Would u eat meat if it had died naturally?? i am curious as to what makes you want to become a vegetarian.... :s
I watched a video called "Meet Your Meat" on the PETA website and it made me switch within a week. At every meal, I couldn't get the images out of my head. And eventually I was like "I'm done" and gave it up.
Although Ive never really been a fan of vegetarianism (my mom is), and will never believe they get enough of what they need (She seems to be sick alot more often and has other issues that were non-existent before she went veggie) I am completely horrified at the idea of raising a child vegitarian cuz he will grow up his whole life biased in favor of vegetarian, which is in my opinion their choice 100%. Most people dont support me, but I wish people raised their children with absolutely no racial, religious, or other types of influences (although almost impossible) Has any1 noticed that the devotely religious were raised to abide by this religion? seriously, It is almost impossible to escape what your parents raise you with, and even though they will never admit it, are only convinced of they deeply rooted beliefs because their parents brought them up this way. People do not make this choice on their own, which kinda sucks anyway, The moral of this small rant is that I wish every1 made all decisions on their own with no influence from parents etc.
No, but the brand of soy milk I use has added B12 vitamin, so I'm all good as long as I drink two glasses a day. I do however take zinc supplements, since it's even more rare tha B12. But it's not more work than when you eat meat, most doctors recomend that you take vitamin and minreal suppliments no matter what you're diet is. It's not like you could overdose on it.
Haha, yeah, no worries. But you can actually overdose on vitamins (even the common vitamin C), but as long as you don't go overboard, you should be fine. I've no problems with vegeteranism, as long as you take the proper supplements to maintain your health. I've read that it's common for vegeterians to suffer from malnutrition, which is a bit worrying. Then again, that could be said for non-vegetarians/vegans who don't have a balanced diet. As for raising children as vegeterians, it starts even when the women are pregnant. A study done by Professor Allen has said This was based on a study on vegetarian children in Kenya. Her study showed that vegetarian children improved their physical and intellectual power after being given a daily intake of two sppons of meat. So perhaps a little meat or milk occasionally may be better for you. Since this was in Kenya, I don't think that the children were being given supplements though. I wouldn't raise my child as a vegetarian, but I would support it if he or she wants to become one, based on their own choices.
I'm all for vegeterianism although not one myself i just don't like steak or unground meat for some reason but my philosophy on every subject like religion vegeterianism sexuality is don't force it upon me or get mad at me for doing whatever i believe is acceptable... ok now as for raising children as vegeterians let them eat meat when they have the chance but you'll probably find that if they aren't raised with meat around their natural diet they won't develope the taste for meat and won't like it as much so don't tell them no meat just eat as you normally would and allow to have it when there's a chance that's probably the one problem a lot of kids have with vegetables parents don't make them eat them on a regular basis at younger ages...
