So I've been a pretty avid runner for the last couple years (running just about everyday but Saturdays and Sundays) and I pretty much run just for the extra cardio and to burn off some excess calories when I go out to eat, but I find myself hating running more and more whenever I think about it -_- so I've been looking at some ways to actually enjoy doing it. Pretty much the only time I like running is when I'm running with my other half or have a friend with me other than that I absolutely abhor running. Just in case it helps I run outdoors and usually do about 4-5 miles a day. Post away you run enthusiasts.

Get a dog. I was pretty bored of running until Buddy entered my life.
This may sound cheesy, but find a good math problem. When I run, I can only sustain myself by thinking. I'll either think of some complex math problem, some get-rich-quick scheme for neo, or some deep symbiotic thought about inter-species relationships, etc

Get an iPod and put on your psych mix.

DEFINITELY have Hunting High and Low by Stratovarius, and Scream by Billy Idol.

I would love to run with a dog I did that last year when we had a house but we moved to a condo and it doesn't allow pets =/ No bueno on the math problem it would probably just piss me off even more. I guess I could think of stuff more stuff when I run but I'd get winded cuz I won't be able to concentrate on my breathing cuz I run at a pretty fast pace (I have a pretty one tracked mind). I run with my itouch whenever I'm by myself and it doesn't really help, I'm not the type that gets motivated by music =/ I just have music so I don't hear cars and random crap.

What I do, is make goals for myself. So it doesn't feel like I run for nothing. Like, I always tell myself I have to run a little further the next time. Also music makes it a lot easier to me. And I absolutely hate running with someone else, but that's just me I guess =P
And yeah, different places also makes it less boring. But generally I feel the same as you, I start off loving it, then it gets too boring and I stop which is a shame .. D:

    Run with people.
When I ran competitively, it was always much easier to get myself motivated when there was a group of people that would go with me. In the off-season? lol@running ._.

Perhaps running in the early morning before the sunrise might help? I know that once I grew into that habit, I looked forward to getting up and enjoying the silence

I do cross country at my high school and it helps to run with people, including on the weekends. just call up a friend, ask if he or she wants to do a run. music is good too. maybe just the thought of getting faster/increased endurance at running will be your motivation.

and vary routes/do routes that are fun with hills maybe? run on dirt/grass then pavement, although cement pavements are especially bad for your shins, if you run on them too much you can get shin splints.

    have fun!

Pretty much everyone has already said it. My thing is music. Though, I generally try to avoid running if at all possible. xD

I go surfing pretty much everyday so I get a good workout from that. I really do running just for the extra cardio.

music is always the answer *nods* google some really upbeat and fun music and get it on your ipod! also, i tend to enjoy sports when i'm really mad, it takes out all your power and helps you get more relaxed. try getting mad at someone XD

    Hardly a run enthusiast but...

    Ipod = Answer

Get yourself a rock 'nd roll mantra.

Maybe run at a different time then usual (late at night)
