I just finished reading Kitchen by Banana Yoshimoto which was really good. Some very strange characters and exelent descriptions that you can usually only find in Japanese authors books. As for recommends you can't go wrong with 1984 and Phillip Pullmans Dark Materials series ^^

I just bought the latest issue of 'Ray' which is a very nice japanese magazine.

    http://www.digi-ray.com/

The latest novel that I've read however is a book called 'The outsider' by Guiyeoni, a famous korean writer. I also enjoy books like Harry Potter or books by dan brown once in a while too. :D

BTW I love Nicole Richie's style, as well as Hilary Duff and Rachel Bilson. They're great inspirations for girls with petite figures such as myself =)

I am currently reading and would recommend, The Interpretation of Murder, by Jed Rubenfeld :)

It's about the torture of a girl that leaves her unable to speak and psychoanalysts such as Freud try to uncover what happened.

Jeremy Clarkeson is very funny, I love Top Gear!

I would suggest anything by Gregory Maguire, he takes old fairy stories like Cinderella, Wizard of Oz and tells them from a different point of view, it is really good the way he keeps continuity of old stories then updates them for adults and changes the way you think about those stories.

Hey Rice, is Dan Brown the same guy who did the Davinci Code book?
    If so he's pretty spectacular.

    Ahhh!

I hate Jeremy Clarkson his views belong in the stone age! I had to do an English paper on one of his articles and he was so patronizing to the reader it's a wonder how anyone can read them. Hah I remember in library lessons all the kids would fight for the Where's Wally books. Thats the real name people changed to Waldo for the US xD

    Re: Ahhh!

I had to read Lord of the Flies in Freshman Year High school, I'm pretty sure everyone did.

daydee, I read a few of Maguire's books over my last Holi, and I enjoyed them all immensely.

As far as Dan Brown's books go, I must disagree with all of you. He had some pure genius going with A&D and the DaVinci code, but I've read his other books, and while they were enjoyable, they were nothing out of the ordinary science fiction type range. He explained the same points to the reader multiple times in great detail as if we weren't able to figure out ourselves. (An example of this is Deception Point.) But I seem to be the only one of that opinion.

Did anyone else here like Angels and Demons a whole lot more than The Davinci Code?
    I sure did.
PLUS I heard they were turning A&D into a movie? Anyone know if that holds any truth?

I love Stephen King's books. I hate the fact that they totally screw up his books with these crappy little movies they make out of them. I thoroughly enjoyed Desperation and The Regulators. I'd recommend them to anyone who likes this genre of writing. It seems a lot of people don't, though.

I also really like Thomas Harris. I recently read Hannibal Rising and it was great. The movie was alright, but as usual, the book was just so much better.
