Recently a lot of users (mostly new ones, but also old ones) started posting useless/spammy topics in this forum. This is not good, as you earn points by posting here and the rules don't allow users to post one-word posts or pointless messages:
So, don't make topics like "What's your favourite XxXxXx" or "What do you think of XxXxXx" won't be allowed. The World of Spam is the right place for these topics, which don't add anything to the community. So please follow this rule: Don't SPAM "General Discussions"

Questions aren't the problem it's the response people give to them. Point is if you don't have something to say don't post, not change the language structure of all questions so one word answers are impossible.

The real problem is people don't make questions deserving a long answer. Topics like these should go in The World of Spam, because they're something not related to the site...

General Discussion is just a healthy medium between reals of writing in Debate and 3 word answers in Spam. General discussion is where members learn about each other it's not spam and it doesn't fit in any other topic just like the forum description says.

But people often spam here just to get ponts, while in The World of Spam they don't. I suspended an user and warned another one today because they were posting one-word posts or double posting. So it's just a rule to follow to prevent spamming for points.

    I support Ricky's comments. :p

New people just dont know what to post here, why only today I believe a topic entitled 'SCRUBS?!' was posted, yet it quite clearly should go in the media section. Likewise the topic posted by you fendi_future entitled 'Eurovision Song Contest'.

I also believe it was you fendi_future that posted the topic about Igloo ABer help and yet there is a board specifically for that.

The person that posted the topic 'better funny madness dance video' should definatly have posted that in spam because only 2 people posted so it clearly wasnt important/interesting in any way.

I just believe that there should be some way of forcing all newbies to read and learn where certain boards should be posted. It would help a bunch.
They should also be somehow forced to read the rules because the amount of people that double post and gravedig is shocking.

Well for a start I've posted two topics "What's Your Favorite Food" and "What Do You Think About Fashion". So the XxXx weren't really needed. Fashion is a hot topic Fur trade, Cheap Labor, Size 0 people could post large posts and did. Or they could post "I don't like it". You could ask "whats the meaning of life" and get the response "To Live". Questions aren't the problems spammers are. You can ask the most controversial philosophical question in the world and get a one word answer back. As for Food people can talk about their favorite dishes and other people then may try it I want to try polish food now because of Lbadmus. And other Mods posted on that post without labeling it spam so obviously it isn't.

I posted about the igloo autobuyer help because the board I wanted to post in was locked to me as were other boards I tried then was it you who posted a link that I could ask question in? I didn't know where to post so I asked I don't know where to put this.

I agree every new person that comes needs a mod to edit their posts before they understand the rules. Mabye an automated message to their inbox would help?

As for Eurovision I typed one post in the wrong thread shoot me I'm sure you've made some forum mistakes.

Obviously some threads are pure spam, but I agree that the problem mainly lies in the new members who want to raise their post count. In the past week or so I've noticed an increased amount of spam from new members, and more threads that should never have been posted anywhere except the spam section.
However I don't think all light subjects should go into spam. I'd also like to point out a difference in my opinion. There was a board awhile back that asked what your favorite soft drink was. That was pointless because we ended up with a 7 page board with a hundred posts that said 'coke' or 'sprite'. However I think subjects like fendi's food question have more room for substance and discussion.

I bleive that yes some posts are spammy but the main probley like everyone e;se is newbies posting short posts. What you should have put in it was if you don't have abything good to say don't say anything at all. There has been alot of users posting short posts and alot of them but staying on topic. IF we say you need to post big post then it will seem like we are restricting what people can so. If the person dosn't have anything meaninful to say then why say it. This is suposed to be non neorealted and non form related. IT should be more of getting to know your fellow users and there thoughs and ideas about things. I know you'll probley say that should go in debate. This is more of a talking to others about there ideas and getting to know each other better. IT dosn't have to be form.neo related. And we cannot restrict new users that musch. ALLMOST ALL OF US HAVE BEEN NEWBIES AND POSTED SHORT POSTS. we need to let the users mature and learn. They will need to be warned, banned or editing of their posts to learn. Unless they came from other sites or are already mature then they will need shaping up. Most users want to get out quick with their autobuyers. Most will find i is to hard or get banned. So let them have the bewbie fun as long as it isn't looking that bad. WE CANNOT BE PICKING ON THE NEWBIES. Yeh we want to make this form have longer posts and less spam but the new users don't know what to say. IF we do statr to restrict the new users more and more our interst will die out. I personlayy don't mind the new users I was one off them. I think it is good that there aaare alot more new users. Sure it isn't visually appealing but think. Also people know they shouldn't gravedig or double post but do it anyway sometimes eeing others do it. Or just to incresea post count. A mod shouldn't use hhis/her power to resrtict newbies but to steer them to the right direction. You shouldn't take away points but notify them that you have been spaming and this post in particular was reported for that reason. Please could you out a one or two SENTENCE post not a one or two WORDS post. Then with that you can more throughly enjoy the site. THabks and I hope you take what I said into consideeration. SOn of chilly saiid he wanted an autobuyer and if I look at your post ricky I'll see some spam. So y don't you blame yourself. THe'll grow out of it. DIDN'T YOU DO THE SAME.

I just read that and I see that the last post was may 20th but I think I have good input?

I think what would be a good idea is to have a couple more forum mods around and if someone posts a thread that doesn't belong in that section, they move it and then notify the user of their mistake, and if it happens excessively, then apropriate action should be taken.

I read most of the rules (only the ones to the boards I have visited), and I don't quite understand the gravedigging thing, so if I am grave digging, I apologize, but it said "worthless message" and I don't see this as worthless. :)

seems a worthit question to be worthy of a gravedig here.
but we have mods around a lot just many gone inactive :p famous curse xD

marlene has work commitments, lscorpio exams, expon is coding new forum, other mods have been away a while. In 2 weeks or so we'll have a good active mods around and be perfectly fine for threads :) altho we should try and have a mod around 24/7 for porn bots, some images are disturbing (even for me).

just adblock the domain and there you go, now you can easily just ignore the post after you report it.

I think rickys been doing a good job lately. Hes on alot and gets rid of alot of spammers. Maybe one more mod like ricky and we'd be set. Im also gonna try and make a prog for the new forum that tries to find these porn bots and ad bots so it can notify the mods about them.

The circled area is what you are meant to look for to avoid grave digging. Whenever you post a message, the time and date is taken. Gravedigging is when you post about 4 days after the last message. So if you look at Snowman's last message, which was in June 05, your post is 4 months after, which is ... uhh...yeah....longer than 4 days.

Generally if I want to find out what the latest topics are, I click on the "View new posts" on the top right hand side of the page, so if you scroll up and look right, it will be underneath the Awards and Arcade button.

Doesn't this go for every section? Like some posts, they ask stupid questions just to get more forum cash, not questions that contribute. People should really start reading the "How to rack up POSTS and CASH responsibly!" thread. That should fix the problem, lolz.

    *Sorry for "gravedig", it's sticky*
