I saw someone saying they were giving away 839 codestones yesterday for free because they quite. I never looked at their profile but I looked in there topic in the trades board and messaged them. They never ended up giving codestones. I read a warning about gcers and giving away free on here so... yepers

    CGers, you mean.

CGers stand for cookie grabber, they steal your neo-cookies, and continue your neopets session, so they can have access to your account. However, when you log out, your session ends, and so does the session they are using to access your account

It is basically what bad people do to steal things from good people. It has become such an epidemic on Neo - it's absolutely disgusting. Personally, I have not yet been CG'ed - I installed NoScript for FF - it is supposed to help by not loading pages that you have not OK'd it to open (IE: CG'ers often use a link that is really close to a true Neopets link to catch people, with NoScript, it won't open that page unless you've previously allowed it).
I don't know if it has helped, or if I am just cautious about the links I click/lucky

But I think everyone (with the exception of the CG'ers themselves) believes that TNT has really dropped the ball on this problem and has done little to fix it - aside from freezing people for their own protection, which if you've got the time and patience to bicker back and forth with TNT you might get your account back this century....*might*

Why not read the page singapore linked to if you're so concerned about this issue?

No, I'm pretty sure there were cases where all you had to do was visit the shop and get CGed. (I checked out the link posted up there and read that it could be just in the shop too) But I dont know if TNT has patched that up yet... I'm pretty sure they have though. That's why people were taking caution when an item was priced ridiculously cheap. Like a 50np codestone or something. More recently, there have been people saying that CGers can be put into posts on the boards... So watch out for that too.

    What location? ;o
Basically, any page which contains user-contributed content is a potential source of a CG'er. Which is why I don't visit lookups anymore. And when I have to buy a few things from shops, I always check my History (to make sure I didn't click on anything malicious unintentionally) and change my password, log out and log back in, straight after. Troublesome, but I think it's worth it.
