    if we disappeared....
Earth would destroy all traces of humans and be flourishing in at least 10,000 years
all these people want is to conserve earth
i admit global warming is a problem
    for us
    not for earth
earth is fine!! i know there is the rainforests being cut down, but if we disappeared they would replenish themselves fine
earth is perfectly fine and will only not be perfectly fine unless there is a meteor that makes it explode
everyone misconceives this theroy about saving earth
honestly we should say "Save ourselves!" not "Save Earth"

Umm, all the living creatures that are on the planet are a PART of earth.. so it's not just about ourselves..

animals are affected by the global warming, too..

You're missing a point, that we want to live in harmony with the earth.
What stopping global warming is, is about the effects that it has on not only humans, but also other species and plants. Which are parts of the earth.
The earth isn't just the planet itself, the term also includes the various forms of life that exist here.

And what happens when we ignore the earth and wreak havoc upon it? The natural resources of the world will be depleted and it's HUMANKIND that will suffer the consequences.

yes, but in order to save ourselves, we need to save the Earth. Everything we do to the planet affects us in some way.

Lol, everyone besides the topic maker is right ;)

But I don't believe in global warming. In the medieval times, it was warmer than it is now.

And it's warmer in Italy than it is in Russia.
But I don't see how that is relevant to global warming either.

It is relevant because the earth just becomes warmer or colder once in a while.

That doesn't mean that we have caused it.

I'm guessing you haven't seen the charts of how cool and warm the earth has become?
The fact is, it doesn't matter if global warming is happening or not, we know that it isn't good for our planet (including all the life on it) with the release of greenhouse gases, so no matter how you look on it, it's something to stop.

The earth is protecting us. Just look what the earth provides us with? Natural Resources, air, food and water. Is that not a good enough reason for us to protect the earth?

About global warning....i believe in it. There is a general trend of rising global temperatures over the last few hunderd years.

Am I the only one who think that this topic is only a mockery? o_O
    Anyway... to stay on topic
It's documented that the ozone hole follows spontaneously cycles of enlargement and decreasement, but it's also demonstrated that our pollutions etch heavily on the gas carbon's quantity present in the atmosphere. Letting alone that our growing urban and industrial areas cause the increase of reflecting surface.
There's a way of saying from me... "to a good understander, few words"

It's called 'global warming'... but actually, it's not so true. It's a very hard sequence of causes-and-effects, that bring to a general warming of some areas, and to a general cooling of others. For example for me is both strange and sad to see how cold is in Italy... where in October people once still went to the sea o_O
From us seasons are no longer as they used to be... none Autumn this year in Italy... we passed from Summer to Winter =( Don't know if it's the same in all the areas of our latitudes...

We don't have seasons in Cape Town. or rather, it doesn't matter what season it is, one day it will be boiling hot, then the next day, its freezing. Halfway through a beautiful sunny not-a-cloud-in-the-sky day, we'll suddenly be hit by gale-force winds and a rainstorm... it doesn't matter what season it is, our weather is just abnormal...

I was talking about areas that generally have the weather well divided into season. Where each season have a specific vegetation and temperature. Especially in these areas climate changes are the most evident. Personally, never seen a cardinal-flower in October... they were in my balcony until last week... now they're dead because of the chill, not the cool.
What about you? Your weather have always been so, or it's changed recently? In the first case, even if it's a very strange weather, it can be considered normal^^'

no, a couple of years ago, the weather was pretty standard. Always, just before midyear, you could expect snow on the mountains, then, by November you were at the beach everyday. It's changed quite recently.

In my country where there is no seasons and it is always "summer" the temperatures have indeed went up.

But if i am not wrong global warming not only refers to the warming of certain area but also the cooling down of certain areas. This means that there is a general widening of the temperature range.

We need to protect the earth for our own good. If we pollute to much trees will die and there goes our main source of building materials and paper. Also, pollution will make us sick. If you have ever went to a big city and notice how bad the air smelt there, no one wants that smell everywhere. Also everything we have comes from the earth, we eat plants that are grown from soil. If we decided to ruin the earth we would kill the plants that give us life. Don't you enjoy seeing the betuy of nature or are you too much of a nerd that only goes outside when he has to.
In our house everything has its orgin in plants and animals. Plastics come from oil which is dead sea creatures. We have wood furniture and the cloth used to line the furniture is often cotton. If we were to depend on what we could make oursleves then the human race would die.
Also why should we care about global warming, it will mess us up. Famers don't want drought but with global warming they will get it, messing up our food supply. The rise in ocean levels will destroy many of the major cities.

Very well said. I still do not understand why the creator of this thread thinks the way that he does. There is a reason why the earth is called mother earth. It is like a mother to us. It nurtures us and provides for us. Be thankful for all the birds and the bees.

are you the first to reach 2000?

By helping the earth with global warming ect. we are helping ourselves. You have to think about why things are happening, it because we made them like that. If we did not mess it up there would be nothing to fix !!!! We are the problem, and we need to help the earth to help ourselves.
