Ok, so there is a wifi network near my house, it has a password. I've heard that admin is really popular password, so when I tried it, it worked, I was able to join the network and the three wifi bars were showing on my iphone indicating a good connection. But when I tried to actually use the web, it said that my iphone was unable to connect. Anyone know what's going on?

Are you sure it's not one of those "pay as you go" connections? I have one of them near my house. You can only get onto it on a computer.

I'm actually not too sure about that. Is there a way to tell them apart from normal wifi connections?

"admin" probably isn't the password. Try something else and you will be "connected" as well.

I don't understand, if admin isn't the pasword, why is it accepted as one?

Yeah, but what I mean is, if that's not the password, why are the WiFi bars showing at the top of my iphone?

I have an iphone too and the bars always show irregardless whether I am granted access or not. The bars only show how strong the signal is. It doesn't mean you are logged in.

Are you talking about the bars that show when you first have to choose a wifi connection, because for me the bars show after I select a WiFi connection and enter a password (bars at top left on the iphone). It looks exactly as if I have connection, but whe I go to use safari, it says that there is no connection.

That's not the case for me, if I type something else, it'll say something like, "wrong password" and take me back to the wifi selection list.

Yeah, I guess, it's just weird that they would do that, it just complicates things.
