There have been some cases where younger patients "choose" to refuse medical treatment. In most cases (or atleast the ones that go to court), it's kids who are about one to ten years old. In these instances, the parents will urge not to treat their child not to take part in life-saving operations or treatment on religious grounds because "if god needs their child in heaven", that there should be no attempt to save their child. This is true for jehovah's witness' and blood transfusions, but for slightly different reasoning. "You must not eat the blood of any sort of flesh. - Leviticus 17:14 ". The questions posed here is - Who's decision is it? The child, or the parents. Does a six year old have either the mental compasity or sound faith to make that judgement, and if not, who would make the judgement for them?
ughhh I answered a topic like this when I first joined or something or at least read it. I am a mother, I believe in god BUT if god wanted my child in heaven no matter what she would go right? I mean when your time is up its up....This doesn't mean refuse your child treatment . I don't think anyone besides adults should have the option to refuse treatment and even then im not sure if adults should be allowed either. But once again I will begin to ramble so ... Who's decision is it? My answer is the parents and if they refuse then its the doctors decision, id someone is ill especially a child they should be treated if it had a good chance of helping!
Haha so you're just looking to get a 'yes'? It's the parent's decision as long as they say yes. I think it should always be the doctor's decision. They do know best. And I think there is no "time is up" point. You die when you die. You don't have an expiration date. Saying that you do is only lessening the responibility you have over your own life.
Sorry but your not allowed to commit suicide so your not allowed to refuse this treatment... For a child I'd say this defenetly applys
You actually are allowed to refuse treatment. Although you're definitely going to die, it's not considered suicide. And I forget which state, but I think some state too legislation to the SC seeking elective assisted suicide.
Yeah pretty much if parents say no they loose there right to a decision lol, yes the doctors . But the doctors don't always know best, well not the ones here anyways -__-
Aw, bad experience with a doctor? Dun worry. I'll go to school, become a nurse, and tell that doctor how to do things right. no worries... just five more years until I can do that though.
