Well, for whatever reason, youtube videos I play arent playing the sound. I know my sound works because it works when I play songs from limewire. I am sure it is something dumb, but would someone please enlighten me?

Is it only Youtube videos or all videos streaming from the internet?

If you're running Vista or Windows 7, each program open have a sound channel.
Open Internet Explorer (or whatever browser you use to watch the videos) and open then open the sound mixer at the bottom right. There should be a level complety down labeled with your application name on it.

Well I find that if I plug in speakers/headphones/whatever, and then play something in the browser I was in when I plugged it in, it doesn't work. So I have to restart my browse. Dx

Dang, both good ideas, but neither worked. Tharoux, mozilla was set at 50 in the mixer and yeah john, I just tried and still no sound for videos. Sounds work for other things on the web, just not videos

So what you're saying is, sound doesn't work for Flash applications.
Does it work in a different browser?

Obviously limewire is the problem, you most likely downloaded a virus that has hijacked your browser. Lol LimeWire is like torrenting for 4 year olds.

Yes because most viruses always attack sound on specific browsers and websites! You should be sherlock holmes.

That happens to me when I muck around with the speakers like unplugging them and such... usually if I refresh the page it comes back.

    As stupid as this sounds...

Right click the flash animation or whatever it is streaming. Make sure the volume in that is not turned down.

MY in-laws had this same problem with IE on Windows XP a while back.. I fixed it.. just don't remember how. I'll ask them in case they remember how I did it :)
