Like the title says President Bush has, for the second time, vetoed stem cell research which can be beneficial for human health.

Bush said that "Sacrificing human life to save human life is unethical."

I think having stemcell would be a good idea, because if you need an organ transplant the you wouldn't have to wait for a donor, and we wouldn't be killing babies, because they are using leftover embryos from fertility clinics.

    what do you think?

many people considering aborting a baby killing a baby. I think if it was restricted to cord collecting then I would be 100% for it, but from abortions...

Well you have to decide if the fetus is considered a person or not. Honestly I consider the fetus to be a person and people have rights. The fetus can't say if he/she wants to be dissected and used for stem cell research. I mean they're not commodities to be used for our benefit. Anyways I'm against stem cell research if the stem cells are from fetuses.

their going to destroy the fetus from abortions either way so why not give it for a good cause rather then to just let it go to waste -_-

    quoted for sensible solution :)

and if sacrificing human life to save human life is unethical, why are we still fighting a pre-emptive war in the middle east?

So shouldn't that be the case for all people? But we give the right to individuals to choose to donate their organs after death. Nobody just takes them. If it's illegal to harvest organs from people after they die then why shouldn't it be illegal to harvest stem cells from dead fetuses?

    Re: Whyh

    exactly my point...

and a person and a fetus are two different things...

    a person has a personality and a fetus doesn't

I didn't even know that was possible, but, of course, it is.
He's by far the most useless president ever, and I pretty much hate America for putting him in office.
Ugh, I'd rather have a monkey for president...it'd probably give better speeches.

So? It's no worse than putting yourself on the organ donator list.
If a woman choose to have an abortion, it would be a total waste not to use the fetus for stem cell research. It's exactly the same thing as signing up on the organ donator list, only you're doing it for someone else.

Nuh-uh, Ralph Nader should have won.
He was the only one that had good radical suggestions.

I don't see why not, i mean fetus below a certain time range isn't even considered a living being right? if it saves lives then it's beneficial

btw i believed Bush is the one of the lowest IQed presidents? XD

well, he's time is almost up right?

My mother had stage 3 cancer and went through a stem cell transplant in 2001. She died, but if we had more information, she may of lived. Why is George Bush so insistant on holding back science? :(
