NEW QUESTION ON LAST POST Hello everyone, you all should know me by now. If you don't, get out from under that rock. Anyway, I'm looking at running another contest, hopefully a successful one this time since my last one failed oh so miserably. (I'm still crying myself to sleep over it ) Anyway, My question to you all is, What sort of prizes would make you want to enter a competition? Please answer by way of poll. If your answer is other, then you may post your answer. Otherwise, no posting! P.S - No I won't give USD as a gift. I'm not rich.
Re: What prizes would you like to see? What type of contest are you planning to do? Jw cause it can kinda change the appropriate prize
Re: What prizes would you like to see? Hrrrm.. Well first one was a artistic based one. However, I want to do something to try and encourage activity on the site. I'm not sure what other type of contests I can run. I am open to ideas for contest you want me to run! I'll make that poll question number two Bumped - Last few days of voting. I will then switch up the poll.
Okay so we all know that Neopoints seems to be the most popular prize here. I'll leave the poll open for users to keep voting for now But thats seems to be the overall winner. So now my question to you is: What kind of competition would you like to see? Please explain your answers so I can understand them. If they're not too hard to run I will happily run one and offer up prizes
Keyquest tournament! XD Given it's illegit to "arrange tournaments" on NP, but it might be kind of fun to do anyway. We could all just use noob accounts and screen cap who won each match and pm it to the judge (so tnt doesn't see which accounts are playing) to see who moves on to the next match. Then the winner of the tournament over all can get a cool prize.
I like this idea =) would be great for the Programmers of this site. but what about the other people? =\ i would definitely participate in this if it was run though =).. I generally just need idea's for programs... i don't have any issues with the coding part xD
The keyquest sounds good - however gettting enough people on at once may be difficult. Programming one - what do you mean? explain idea more?
This is influenced by what I've seen around the internet. If there are enough people: 2-3 categories based on difficulties: Beginner, [Medium], Advanced [customtable=Grading]Functionality: This is how well your program functions, CPU usage, etc. up to 20 points Feature Set: This is how complete your program's features are for its category (ABers, spammers, avatar grabbers) up to 35 points Graphical Interface/Design: This is how good the program looks up to 30 points Difficulty: Compared to others, how hard of a program did you try to pull of? up to 15 points Total: Points out of 100[/customtable] People have to program a program, from scratch, allowed to use other's wrappers. Competition ends some day, and programs submitted will be graded on a scale of 100 and compared with others.
it can also be the other way around if there aren't enough people who will participate. I do like the sort of layout that Lightning suggested. i think that the scores could be modified a little bit/add a few more things such as source setout (Packaging, etc... proving good coding practices, etc).. the best way is to have a set program that they have to make (Say.. something simple, like an avatar collector). the way that it could be Judged is to have a few people as a judge, who are provided with the source code to the program. these Judges do not know who wrote the program so it is an un-biased opinion. they then have a look at the amount done, test it for productivity/efficiency/etc. it seems like a lot to set up in this way.. its possible to do it in a more simple way.
Well, yeah, having something set is also a possibility, but it does limit a programmer, doesn't it? I mean, think of creative features, yes, but that would kinda be hard to judge. Same program, same average difficulty. As for good coding practices -- we don't do that just because it's a good practice. It basically translates back into efficiency.
Hrrrm.. Seems rather technical to run. I'd be more than happy to offer prizes / assist run the competition but I couldn't pull that one off all by myself. Any other competition ideas? Would people be interested in another race to riches? I enjoyed that. I won't be participating but did enjoy the betting process and awaiting results I would LOVE to host some sort of Neofriends Site Event - However this will take a crapton of planning and programming and permission so far we have: Graphics/Art Competition Keyquest Game Competition Programming Competition Race To Riches Type Competition any other suggestions before I change the poll?
Didn't the site/server sort of fail the last Neofriends.net giveaway where they ask questions and answer? We could redo it on Mumble...something like this (spam-corner-f35/the-giveaway-is-here-8pm-start-15mins-t10541.html)
Not really...I believe most of our most active users are from either the North America or Europe. Because those continents have the most English-speakers And maybe some Australians
I'm going to NZ in November D: aww well, I might just have to try and find the time to see if i can get on here =P Or just do it in a decent week of Nov
